Group B Preview

The best, the minnows and the test match specialists to contest this group that looks certain that the big guns will go through. Australia have the best side in the world after winning their 3rd consecutive World Cup in April. They have brought in a few 20/20 state players to strengthen their side in this competition. Ricky Ponting will continue to lead them out and will want his team to become the first team to win this Twenty20 Championship and continue to cement their name as the best side in the world. England come in with a pretty new look side, including Surrey big hitters Benning and Brown to strengthen their top order batting. Sidebottom comes in after being the most economical 20/20 domestic bowler in 2006 and Broad comes in being the most succesful seamer in domestic 20/20. Vaughan has been given the nod to captain and Trescothick comes back into international cricket for the first time since he pulled out of the India tour in 2005/6. Finally Zimbabwe who have got the same side as the World Cup side that failed to win a game and finished bottom of the table. Young Utseya will take the captaincy and hope they can at least give the two big sides a challenge.

Game of the Group
Easily the game between old rivals England and Australia at Cape Town. A massive encounter after England gave away a good chance of victory when they played against eachother in the World Cup. In the two 20/20 games played between the sides they have won 1 each. Both sides will see this game as the game who will finish top of the group and so a massive game for both teams. This game will be shown live on Sky Sports 2.

Players to look out for

David Hussey - After an incredible domestic season with Nottinghamshire he has joined the Australian side for the first time. He scored a magnificent 275 off just 227 balls including 14 sixes last season for Notts. He will look to use his big hitting to boost Australia's middle order along side the likes of Symonds and White. If David Hussey can fire then Australia will be almost impossible to keep under 200 when batting first. This big hitter is different from any other and should make some big scores during the tournament.

James Benning - After a lot of talk about a specialist 20/20 team being chosen for this tournament, Benning been chosen to get the England innings off to a bang. After scoring lots of runs in his One Day career at Surrey he has been chosen to give England that good start they really need. If he makes any kind of score it will be at a strike rate of 100+ and if he is in form, that ball will travel all over South Africa.

Stuart Matsikenyeri - A very capable batsman who can pull together what is a pretty weak Zimbabwean batting line-up. His big hitting in the world cup got him noticed by many of the big teams and could get into most squads. But like most of the Zimbabwe side they have he is in-experienced in this form of the game with himself only having played three 20/20 matches. He can always turn his arm over and get crucial breakthrough's, but if he makes the headlines it will be because of his explosive hitting.

Predicted Group Standings

Australia 1st - 6 points
England 2nd - 3 points
Zimbabwe 3rd - 0 points
