Ponting also remarked on how much this series meant to him and his team, " We've gone through a tough couple of months, loosing the ashes really gutted us but also insipred us to the super series win. We wan't to show that we can do that again" Chanderpaul said his team also wanted to prove to the world that they deserve planty of recognition. "West Indian cricket has not flourished since the last great team of the 70's and 80's, Our goal here is to prove that we as the next generation can come up against and defeat world champions"

True, I havent seen the Windies playing competetively against Australia recently. Hopefully they could put up a better fight here!

Brisbane downpour

Unexpected thunderstorms with heavy rain have stopped the 1st warm up match for the Windies against QLD. The pitch can't be played on for 5 days until the water has drained off. The Test match at the moment however looks to be in no danger. The South Australian's have put their hands up to host the visitors while the GABBA pitch is being repaired, much to the delight of the Windies who immediately accepted the offer. This is also a blessing for Jason Gillespie who now has the chance to prove himself before the Test Series.

45-55 mmls of rain ruined the Brisbane wicket as well as some homes around QLD.

WARM UP GAME 1 (WIN v SA)

Richie Benaud: Hello and welcome to the 2005 West Indies tour! Today we have a warm up game at this glorious Adelaide oval after the forced shifting of ground due to rain in Brisbane. I have Tony Greg down on the ground who took a look at the pitch, Tony?

TG: Thanks Richie, This Adelaide pitch has something for everyone, It has releatively good bounce and will seam early on with the ball, As I walk down towards the batsmans crease there are a few cracks which will benefit the bowlers. It will also offer some spin later in the match to really give a good competative game. So in my book either way is good today!

RB: Thanks Tony, the teams are about to walk onto the ground into a cracking atmosphere, fans have traveled from far and wide to see this warm up, surely good signs for the Test Series.

RB: Now the toss has been won by the West Indians who have elected to bowl.

WINDIES HAVE SLIGHT EDGE OVER SA AS BLEWETT FALLS

South Australia are 85/3 after 20 overs, A strong sand between Smith and Blewett was eventually undone by Chris Gayles spin. Blewett attempted to smash one out of the park but only found the safe hands of Hinds
