West Indies just cannot bat even if their life depended on it.
The top 3 is a big issue though and it is preventing Australia from posting competitive enough scores on a usual day. The opener conundrum is the worst because Warner's retirement has left a hole yet to be properly filled, and now Khawaja is also old and out of form, that dropping him is going to only make it worse with two rookie openers who have not proven. I'd say right now Khawaja has to stick till Ashes to at least add experience up top to guide the youngster, Konstas or whoever who plays at the other end, and hopefully we see said youngster start to perform consistently and play some big knocks to give some confidence to stick with them. Then after Uzzie retires it's another hole to fill, and Konstas or whoever has to be decent enough a player at that time to provide stability while the team searches for that other opener.Think its only the top 3 that are an issue, the rest of the side is playing well considering the conditions. And Green maybe has found his feet at 3 now, if he has I'd say there's only one spot up for grabs which is Khawaja's. Knowing Australia though we will drop Konstas before Khawaja.
Yeah. Green has had a notable technical flaw in the past (I've dealt with it too, I think it's just a reality of being tall), but he's clearly working on it and improving, and was the only one of our batters to really master the pink ball.Considering the conditions and the strong WI bowling attack, Konstas and Khawaja are the only ones who's spots are in trouble in my opinion. The start of the shield season leading into the ashes is going to be great to watch. Proper bat off for the opening positions.
