What is the best cricket game of all time - your thou

Well we can pretty much say AC09 is a failure with its pathetic AI. It promised so much, and has so much promise. This has been the story with every game ever made really. Yet there is one game who's engine has been sturdy from day dot. A game that never produces stupidly ridiculous results frequently. And that is International Cricket Captain. Like Steve Waugh - not flashy, graceful or spectacular - but does the job well. ICC has my vote. Whats everyone else's thoughts?

BLIC '99 for me.

As for AC09, I've still got hope, for the PC version at least. I don't think the patch will fix more than the P.C. team will be able to.

AC09

By no means is it perfect, but an online mode that barely holds up, does add a lot over BLC '99, the former best cricket game imo. Its difficult..but if you can find other good people to play this game online with who won't quit on you, it will be an incredible experience.
Other than that, AC09 has the best batting system ever, bowling takes getting used to but I'm starting to love it as well, playing the game on hard produces some realistic matches. Though I'm not fond of its A.I. either..in Test matches and I can keep on hitting the same area 4-5 times before it decides to change the field.
This game could use a patch to make it a bit better, but so far AC09 is the best cricket game I've played yet.

Shane Warne Cricket 99 is far and away the best cricket game of all time and it's a ridiculous shame that the best Cricket game was released 10 years ago.

  1. Stats tracking + records
  2. World cup
  3. Every stadium plus realistic pitch and weather variations per stadium - ie, usually raining during a test in Hobart and hotter than Heaven over in Perth
  4. Test seasons starting from about 1992, that was fantastic to take your team on test tours for years.
  5. Batting and bowling was fair for the player, you could take wickets against the CPU on hard but still have to work for them but you atleast got rewarded.
  6. The biggest winner for me was it is has been probably the only cricket game released with realistic shot motions, which, to me, is the most important area of a Cricket game.

I can't understand how the games that followed could barely included any of these features and could have some of the most abhorrent shot motions you could think of (I'm looking at you, EA, you bludgers!)

Plus it was in an era of Cricket with too many great players - Warne, McGrath, Waqar, Wasim, Ambrose, Walsh, Lara, Tendulkar.

I also hate how the recent Codemasters games re-hash the commentary from that game.

Shane Warne '99 = BLIC '99, doesn't it? Agreed about the commentary, that is so incredibly lazy!

Yeah they are the same games, and I too recognize the commentary..I think TG were giving a tribute to the legendary game =P but commentary really is horrible in AC09.

tbh I think this is an awesome game against legit players online. Without doing something like totally changing the batting engine, there is little I would change, it is easily the best ever.
The problem is that it is unplayable against the ai and 90% of people online quit. I understand they are fixing these things though. Well, there's not much they can do about online quitting but whatever, it doesn't bother me that people quit when they've already lost.

Cricket 2004 is by far the best cricketing game ever made. With patching it is simply the best and most competitive AI there is, and nothing can match it. The graphics may be shoddy, but they are likeable. The running between the wickets is realistic, there are not many major bugs that haven't been fixed (Only the ODI save game bug), and it's thoroughly enjoyable.
