i'm suprised how many people are voting for sharma.

i'm also suprised that there has been no votes for Ntini,Nel or Jimmy Anderson.

If that were the case, I wonder how everyone seems to have forgotten Dravid. Except for the last 6 months, he has been outstanding averaging above 60 for the past 6 years or so.

My team would be

Hayden
Smith
Ponting
Tendulkar
Dravid
Kallis
Dhoni
Murali
Lee
Steyn
Akhthar

Can't help but notice the dearth of good fast bowlers. Had a hard time picking them.
Yeah but look at how low Dravid's strike-rate is.

You've got 2 of the slower batsman in world cricket batting at 5 & 6 where those positions would be better used to attacking batsman like Pietersen who can come in and continue the momentum.

And to say Vaughan is England's best over Pietersen is laughable.

Agreed.

Pietersen,Cook and collingwood are all better batters than Vaughan.

Vaughan is only in the side due to the fact that he captain's the side.

vaughan is a better player than collingwood, im not putting colly down because i think hes a great player, i just think that vaughan is a wonderful cricketer, he just really really really really isnt an opener anymore, he is a number 3, and one of the best in the world at number 3.

and he is also the best captain in the world IMO

Well their not really top quility bowlers , and anyways Ntini hasn't taking alot of wickets for sometime and Nel and Anderson just doesn't seem like they'll ever be one of the greats.....

At the minute you dont need to be that good a bolwer to make a world team.

im a fan of nel,he seems to bowl a good line and length, and jimmy is a real class bowler when he get's in the side.

it's so hard to pick a bowling side due to the fact that there are not that many star bowlers out there anymore.

vaughan is a better player than collingwood, im not putting colly down because i think hes a great player, i just think that vaughan is a wonderful cricketer, he just really really really really isnt an opener anymore, he is a number 3, and one of the best in the world at number 3.

he's a number 3 for sure..he just doesn't seem the same when he opens.

capatin wise he's prolly is the best, there just doesn't seem to be that many great captain's in world cricket right now.

I'm never good at just churning out XIs because I always miss one or two players.

This is not totally based on current form, but it is taken into the equation.

1. Matthew Hayden
2. Graeme Smith
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Jacques Kallis
6. Kumar Sangakkara
7. MS Dhoni (wk)
8. Brett Lee
9. Dale Steyn
10. Ryan Sidebottom
11. Muttiah Muralitharan

Playing Dhoni as the specialist keeper with Kumar as a batsman simply due to Kumar's record as specialist batsman: 2939 runs at 91.84.

OK Beat this side. And plz comment this time :p

1 - Hayden (Big Boss)
2 - Vaughan (Englands Best)
3 - Ponting (Worlds Best Run Scorer)
4 - Tendulkar (Worlds Best Batsman in Any Form)
5 - Sangakarra (Worlds Best Wicket Keeper)
6 - Kallis (Best All Rounder)
7 - Flintoff (If Fit Hes devastating)
8 - Lee (World Best Strike Bowler)
9 - Steyn (World Best Emerging Bowler)
10 - Mohd Asif (Hes Deadly with his Line and Length)
11 - Murlitharan (No intro needed)

Vaughn isn't the best opener. He's a number three, and shouldn't be in the team unless he's playing there IMO.

Hayden - The best opener in the world.
Karthik + - he's a class opener who's just not been given his adequate chances. People may argue about this but I stand my ground. He'll be my 'keeper as well
Ponting* - Great batsman
Tendulkar - God :p
Dravid - You just can't have a World Test team without this man, in form or not.
Sangakarra - Pure batsman here, and pure class.
Mohommad Yousuf - Great batsman.
Lee - Best fast bowler in the world ATM
Steyn - Second best fast bowler in the world ATM
Kumble - Duh
Staurt Clark - He is awesome.

I think Kumble is a better test match bowler then Mularitharan, so yeah. I know, Mulari has taken 700 wickets, but I think still think Kumble is a better bowler, and certainly off late.

I'd have Laxman in the test squad with Mulari, Pietersen, Zaheer Khan, Vaughn and Micheal Hussey.

Very Nice team. Has a nice mixture of hard hitting and quality timers mixed in with consistency in Sanga. Bowling wise Lee and Steyn would be a deadly partnership. Not entirely sure about Asif though.

I like it very nice but i would rather put Ishant Sharma in the place of M.Asif.
Not Ishant. He just isnt good enough an average of 45 says it all.

Sometimes having a low strike rate is good if you have a team that all has a strike rate of above 80 then they are more likely to get out cheaply its good to have balance in a side. You talk about continuing momentum what about if there is no momentum and lets see your 100-3 then you need a fighter. IMO Pietersen is nowwhere near Englands best at the moment. He is slowly moving away from his attacking ways and needs to realise that is how he plays and is not playing well at the moment.

Agreed.

As i have just said Pietersen isnt as good, Cook as the ability to be but isnt just yet and if we are talking about style Colly isn't the most stylish batsmen in the world!

Collingwood may not be the most stylish batsmen, but he is pretty damn consistent.

cook is a young superstar in the making and will only get better with time.

i just feel that pietersen, cook and colly are better batters than vaughan.

vaughan is simply not the man he used to be.

Kumble is a better test match bowler than Murli?? How so? If you don't mind explaining that.
and having Kartik in over Sanga and Dhoni?? and he hasn't played a test since the Pak series.

Pietersen's played many match winning knocks. Infact I'd say the majority of his centuries have come when the team's been in trouble.

Ideally, you want an attacking batsman coming in in the middle order, particulary at number 5 or 6.

If you wanted to have a balance to the side then you'd open with the guy with the lowest strike-rate as his in there to see off the new ball.

Karthik + - he's a class opener who's just not been given his adequate chances. People may argue about this but I stand my ground. He'll be my 'keeper as well.
He can't even make the International team.

I've seen him drop some incrediably easy catches.

You're picking him over 2 guys who have made scores of 250+ in Test Cricket in Smith & Sehwag who both average close to 50.
