I suppose people forget he got 4 for 10 off 4.2 overs, 6 for 13 off 8 overs against india and then 4 for 47 against Pakistan. I suppose because he gets knocked about a bit in a few games people just forget how good he is!

Last 5 match ODI series he played against India:

1st match 10-0-47-0
2nd match 10-0-44-2 (Zaheer Khan and Praveen Kumar in last over)
3rd match 9-0-64-1
4th match 3-0-24-0
5th match 10-0-44-2 (Irfan Pathan and L Balaji)

Out off 5 wickets 4 were off bowlers and that too in last 2 overs off the innings.

1st Match 10 - 0 -52 - 1
2nd Match 10 - 1 - 32 - 0
3rd Match 10 - 0 - 60 - 1
4th Match 10 - 0 - 66 -1
5th Match 10 - 0 - 41 -2

Even Murali didn't perform..

This thread is about Mendis though.

That just shows, how well the Indians were prepared to face the spin twins.

Also Murli doesnt have that good record against us in ODIs.

Yes but if you say you have worked out Mendis, then you also have worked out Murali, everyone has an off series!

Murali is not a mystery spinner though. He's just very very good. Mendis has the potential to be very good but the question with him is always going to be 'Have batsmen figured him out?' when he bowls badly rather than 'Is he out of form?' because of the very unique, rarely seen mystery aspect to his bowling. I mean, it seems logical that he had a bad series, trust me it does but it's just the way it is.

As I told you Murli hardly troubles India. In ODIs he averages 38 in Sri Lanka against India and overall 31.

Lets face it. Mendis got into news because of his heroics against India only.

Well Pakistan and Sri Lanka are playing proper cricket soon so we will see then.

he is back! after BD series every one was saying he is done..but guess not

It smacked of silly arrogance when he remarked no batsman has worked him out yet.

Just conveniently forgot how he was mauled in the IPL by Tendulkar I guess.

I think Ajantha Mendis has clearly been found out. Mohammad Yousuf, who hasn't played a test match since December of 2007, has seemingly found Mendis out himself. Yousuf did struggle against Mendis early on, but he has shown that he is indeed, one of the greatest batsmen of our generation.

Form is temporary, class is permanent :).

Ajantha Mendis is 0/53 in 15 overs so far.

What's the pitch like, if he isn't getting any assistance then it's very unfair to judge him. If the ball was seaming around yesterday I can't imagine day two would favour the spinners much.
