Australia win first match by 7 wickets.

?Punter? Ponting started edgily and edged a short ball from Aziz. Lucky for him, it fell short of the man at gully.

Ponting broke the shackles by smashing a fullish delivery over mid wicket for 4. It bounced only centimetres short of the boundary rope.

Ricky Ponting hits a wonderful shot in his short innings of 5.

On the final ball of the 6th over, Roy Symond played a little flick stroke. Due to his amazing power and strong biceps, he managed to get the ball over the fielder and over the rope down to fine leg for 6.

Mortaza got his 2nd wicket in his final over courtesy of a terrible stroke from the batsman. Ponting, looking to get the game over and done with, walked down the pitch to try and turn a Yorker into a full toss. Instead of smashed it along the ground, his bat twisted in his hand upon impact with the ball and scooped the ball up to the diving Sahariar at cover. He goes for 5 and Australia are 3/45. They now require only 21 runs to win.

Ponting shows his frustration after losing his wicket so close to victory.

Cameron White smashed only his 2nd ball from Mortaza for four. He played a cross bat shot as the ball went sailing over midwicket and went one bounce and four.

The next ball was fuller and Cameron White played the same stroke. This time, the ball went over the boundary and 25 rows back. Massive hit. Only 10 needed now with still 13.2 overs left.

The 2nd last ball was a carbon copy of the ball before. Full and straight and Cameron White just went bang! This time the ball didn?t go as far and landed about 10 rows back. Back to back sixes.

Cameron White bludgeons yet another 6 as finished he the match in style by going 4664 to finish the match.

Can he get 3 sixes in a row? No. White smashes the ball towards to midwicket-wide long on region as the ball takes one bounce and goes over the rope for four. And with that strike is the match for Australia.

The Bangladeshi's show their frustration after the loss.

MT: I?m down here with Cameron White. Cam, well done, you just went a bit beserk at the end.

CW: Yeah, it was great fun. I?m happy that I got a chance to get a bat and get some runs under the belt. It?s all important for future matches.

MT: In the 7 overs you batted, it looked like you guys were trying to be less careless. You tried to pick and gaps and not get out to wreckless strokes.

CW: You?re absolutely right there, we really let ourselves down in the World Championship. We lost a lot of our wickets to wreckless strokes and Tim (Tim Nielson) has worked on that. It?s seemed to have payed dividends. But we?ll have to wait until we get a full 20 overs before we can see if it has truly done the trick.

MT: Thanks for your time Cameron, congratulations on the win and good luck for the rest of the series.

CW: No problem.
------------------------------

MT: Well there you have it. Australia, victors by 7 wickets in the first Twenty20 match. We?ll be back after the break with the match presentation.
-------------------------------

MS: Welcome back to Dhaka where Australia has just defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets to lead the 3 match series 1-0. We?re ready for the match presentation. Here?s Simon O?Donnell down at ground level.

----------------------------------

SO: Thanks, Michael. First I would like to call upon the losing captain, Habibul Bashar. Habibul, tough luck today, Australia were really on their game.

HB: Yeah, it was a very disappointing display. Australia were on fire. They are a class team and I think just because they?ve lost their past 4, that people should write them off. Just look what happened at the World Cup. They went in after losing 6 on the trot and ended up going through the World Cup undefeated. I?m shocked that the media could fall for that illusion that the Aussies are on the decrease.

SO: You must be happy with Saleh?s performance today. He did well.

HB: Yes, I?m very proud of his effort. He was the main guy as the rest of us fell. Had he failed, we would?ve been trundled out for a very very low score. He played well and was able to still attack when the Aussie bowlers had their tails up.

SO: Thank you for your time and good luck in the rest of the series.

HB: Thanks a lot.

SO: I would like to call upon the man of the match. Winning $1000 US dollars and a silver watch, BRETT LEE! (Aussie crowd goes crazy as Lee walks on the podium)
Brett, well bowled today, how does your ankle feel?

BL: It feels absolutely fine. I can?t feel any pain at all. I?m running into the crease with out any discomfort and I?m happy with how I?m bowling.

SO: You bowled in great areas and really troubled the batsmen. You had a lot of pace and bounce and you were beginning to touch the 150kph mark.

BL: I felt great. Although I still don?t have the right rhythm. When I have the right rhythm, that is when I bowl my best. I still think that I can bowl better. But I?m overly happy with my performance today.

SO: Thanks for your time Brett, and good luck in the future.

BL: No problem.

SO: I would like to call upon the winning captain. Ricky Ponting!

SO: Ricky, how do you rate your performance today?

RP: I was happy with the way we bowled, but I wasn?t overly happy with our blokes shots during our innings. Our wickets to fall were poor shots. I wasn?t happy with my dismissal and will have to work on my batting in the nets. The other 2 dismissals were great balls but terrible shots. They should?ve been forward drives of defensive shots.

SO: How do you think that you?ll go in this series, and the future series to come.

RP: If we can go on to win this tournament, then it will just help us further. I?m sure we can get back to the form we had in the World Cup earlier this year and play back at our best.

SO: Thanks for your time and good luck in future series.

RP: No problem.

-------------------------------

SW: Well there you have it. Until the next match in 2 days, take care and goodbye!

Great win for the Aussies, awsome story mate, its real colourful and everything, your writing skills are top notch, KUTGW big fella:cheers

Thanks for the compliments guys.
I think this can help me practice my writing skills. Because I want to be a sports journo when I'm older.

Aussies dominated right from the start and was White ended the match in style. Nice presentation mate :)

MS: Hello, I’m Michael Slater and welcome to Dhaka for the second Twenty20 between Bangladesh and Australia. Australia, after demolishing Bangladesh in the opening game will be looking to wrap up the series today. We have some big changes in the Aussie team, Ricky Ponting and Shaun Tait.
We’ll now cross to Tony Grieg who has the pitch report.

TG: Thanks Slats. Well the pitch we have for you today is a dry looking pitch. This should help the batsmen a lot. Both teams will be looking to bat first and set a total over 200. There will be absolutely no movement through the air, only movement off the pitch. This pitch is as solid as a rock and I can’t even fit my key in here. Today is a very hot day and very good conditions for cricket. Back to you in the box.

MS: Thanks, Tony. We are down with Shane Warne and the 2 captains for the toss of the coin.

SW: Right, Habibul, you have the coin. Away we go.

AG. Heads!

MR: Heads is the call….. It is a head.

SW: Gilly, you’ve won the toss, what are you going to do.

AG: We’re going to have a bowl, Warney. We think that if we can get a few early wickets, we might be able to do what we did a couple of days ago, and then seal the series.

SW: What changes are there in the team today?

AG: As you’ve probably noticed, Ricky is out today. He injured his hammy at training yesterday. Luke Butterworth will be making his debut today after Shaun Tait injured his back. He is going in for scans today.

SW: Thanks for you time Gilly, and good luck.

AG: No prob.

SW: Habibul, you lost the toss again, have you made any changes to your team?

HB: No we have not. We and the staff thought that the other day was a bad day. Hopefully today we can fight back and tie the series 1-1 before the final game in a couple of days.

SW: You’ll be hoping for a better performance by your batsmen today. You’ll admit that they batted terribly.

HB: Yes, correct there. We all got out to terrible shots. Our shot selection was very poor. The only guy to have do the opposition was Rajin (Saleh) and he showed that if you can get in, then it’s easy to bat.

SW: Thanks for you time, Habibul, and good luck today.

HB: Thank you.

SW: Back to you guys up in the pod.

IH: Thanks Warney, but this is a commentary box, not a pod. This isn’t the rich list. *Swearing heard in background* (:p)
Right, here are the teams for todays game.

Red = New players

IH: We’re out of time for now, so we’ll get into action and we have Tony Grieg with Simon O’Donnell…..

5 over update

Once again, Bangladesh lost an early wicket. Bracken pitch the ball up and Omar?s eyes flashed up as it looked like a half volley. It just short of that and he spooned the ball up to Hayden at cover. He falls for a duck and Bangladesh are 1/1 after 4 balls.

Bracken and co celebrate the wicket of Javed Omar

In the 3rd over, Bracken strayed off his good line and length and Sarkar capitalized by cutting the short and wide ball behind point for four.

It seemed that the Bangladeshi?s had not learnt their lesson as Sarkar smashed a good length ball down deep cover?s throat. He fell for 6 and Bangladesh are now 2/10 after 2.5 overs. Bracken has 2 wickets.

Saleh showed his intent to attack first ball and played a brilliant shot down the ground for 4 off a short of a length ball from Bracken.

3nd ball of the 3rd over, Butterworth pitches a bit full and skipper Habibul Bashar played the most techniqnally correct straight drive you could play for his 2nd four.

Habibul Bashar hits a brilliant straight drive down the ground for four

The next ball was on a good length and Bashar just punched the ball just over the fielder at mid on?s head for another four.

A couple of balls later, Butterworth tried a slowerball which kept down a lot. Bashar went for a pull shot but completely missed it. The umpire gave the big appeal not out. It hit just outside the line of off stump, but would?ve gone on to hit the stumps.

Next ball was another slower ball, but Butterworth overpitched it. Bashar stepped forward and smacked the ball over mid on for four.

Bashar smashes another four

First ball of the 5th over and Bracken bowled a brilliant Yorker on Saleh?s toes.
Saleh, who was best batsmen in the last match was beaten for pace and had his leg stump uprooted. That ball was at an amazing pace for Bracken. A wopping 143kph. Fast considering that Bracken only really bowls around 125-135.

Sahariar punched his first ball down the ground for four. A slower ball allowed him to get on the back foot and punch it down the ground for four.

After 5 overs, Bangladesh are 3/32. They need a partnership if they want to make a competitive total.
