yeah, a poor season so far by the Aussies so hopefully you's can get back on track. Its funny how one comment can lead to a discussion well off topic.

True, poor season so far by the Aussies..(We know whose fault this is :p) Good to see we`re slowly getting back on track.

And at the other comment, thats also true, it all started with my unrealistic Mitchell Johnson comments.

The top three for Australia were pretty damn special but it was the bowlers that stole the limelight. Tait, Clark and Siddle were very good over the two innings but Mitchell Johnson was just that little bit better. He's got the fire in his belly now and I'm expecting to see him continue these performances. With Vettori injured, Australia's chances of a whitewash get even bigger.

Very good presentation, Jordan, although the next update will be better cause of the logo's. ;)

The Clarke and Clark show

106432.jpg
106241.jpg

The difference in this test was the combination of Clark and Clarke, Clark starring with the ball, 6-63 and Clarke with the bat, 101 not out.

Australia has crushed New Zealand, defeating the hapless Kiwis by 5 wickets in the second test match. It was all the same for the New Zealanders as they backed up their poor first test batting form with another horrible first innings as paceman Stuart Clark ran rampant. Clark, 6-63, claimed career best figures as NZ only managed to make 249. Australia were off to a flyer as they cruised to 167 without loss with Hughes and Katich both notching up half centuries. A mini collapse left the Australians in trouble at 6/279. But Michael Clarke and Mitchell Johnson came to the rescue, with Clarke scoring a majestic 101* and Johnson chipping in with a very handy 84 as they two piled on 138 for the 7th wicket. With Australia declaring at 8-434, the New Zealanders had a tough job in first wiping the deficit, then piling on enough runs for a decent chase for the Australians. But it was Johnson with the ball this innings as he snared 4-71, bowling the Kiwis out for a lowly 273. With only 80 odd runs for the Australians to chase, the match was always theirs. But some good bowling from Oram and Vettori (who somehow managed to play the second test with a fractured hand) had Australia in some early trouble at 5-78. But the Australians were too strong in the end and NZ now have dropped the series at home and as Australia continues its unbeaten streak in tests this cricket year, a fantastic effort.

New Zealand by 7 Runs in Thriller

97045.jpg

New Zealand celebrate a wicket late on Day 5

New Zealand have prevented Australia from the unthinkable and claimed victory in the 3rd and final test match from Christchurch. Chasing a record 479, Australia fell short of the mammoth total by just 7 runs as paceman Shane Bond dismissed Peter Siddle for the 10th wicket on day 5 with just 3 minutes left in the game. Australia started the run chase on day 4 with no chance of winning but Phillip Hughes had a different idea. Hughes scored a blinding double hundred but fell minutes before he could smash Australia to victory. Hughes with the support of Ponting 48, Clarke 68 and Dave Hussey 85, managed to get Australia within a whisker of winning the greatest test of all. But Shane Bond managed to get the breakthrough then proceeded to rip through the tail of the Australians just 7 runs short of a day and half long record run chase. Earlier, the match was set up by a 97 from McCullum as New Zealand scored 400 in their first innings. This loss doesn't mean much to the series as Australia had already secured the series by game two. Australia finish the cricket season in winning form. The Australians went unbeaten in the cricketing year of '09/'10 in the test format, which included a series draw for the 2009 Ashes and a couple of good series wins against the West Indies and Pakistan.

McCullum's first innings score 97 was instrumental in New Zealand's attempt at victory
