FIRST TEST ABOUT TO GET UNDERWAY!
The first test match of the English summer is about to get underway, as the players get ready in the changing rooms, and the capitains get ready to do the toss. Whilst we wait we will bring you some other news as well as the line-ups for this first npower test match.
Channel 4 have officially announced that they will be sponsoring and covering all the Test series footage for this summer, this is come as a suprise as Sky Sports usually do test matches. However Sky Sports have retained the coverage for the ODI matches which also promise to be exciting. A look at some of the other sponsers taking part and promoting the summers cricket are shown below!
THE LINEUPS - 1ST NPOWER TEST MATCH!
So much speculation on the lineups, but they seem pretty even and solid, all in all there should be a good match coming out of this. The Windies team doesnt look as strong as the English team on paper but they are a very talented team and can take a game away quickly. They still have much to learn from the more expirianced players but were pretty sure they might just click in this series, especially in the ODI's!
The English team also has some young talent in it with the likes of Broad, Cook and Anderson to some extent all have things to learn. Collingwood has been dropped out and Solanki the English mystery glovesment stays down the order. Vaughan is leading the team and the top batting order looks very strong. So enough with the talking we will bring you the action soon, but for now you can look at the lineups and give us your thoughts!
Yuck. Get Solanki out and Prior in. I bet he'll score a double-century now I am surprised to see Colly dropped but good to have Jones and his reverse swing back in the side. Windies are going to be struggling.
Well the first test match of the summer has begun here at Lord's. The atmosphere is great and we are moments away from the first ball being bowled.
We were looking forward to the toss, it could be a good toss to win or to lose just depends on what the capitains are feeling. One thing for sure though, the pitch is a belter but even. It's got a bit of grass on it so the ball might move about in the early stages of the day but the groundsmen reckons it should flaten out and then runs can be scored. So in a nutshell if your bowling first you'll want early breakthroughs.
As you can see the pitch has a bit of green on, so the toss as we said might be good to win or lose, it really depends on what both camps are feeling. Speaking of the toss the West Indian capitain Chanderpaul won the toss and suprisingly decided to bowl first. Now this decision comes as a out of the ordinary one for the West Indies, some say their batting is much stronger than their bowling...they seem to think otherwise. Were pretty sure they'll be determined to knock over Strauss, Cook and Vaughan early as they see them as weaker links in the English side. Theres also a possibility that they will be targetting Andrew Flintoff as he returns to the side.
in the early stages of this first innings i think it will be tough for both sides as the pitch isnt set for one side. the first 10 or so overs will be the deciding ones in the innings i think
Its going to be tough for both teams in the first part of the Innings however once the likes of Vaughan, Pietersen etc.. settle in them they can be difficult to remove.
when ball is likely to move a bit in early stages of the game, there is no surprise in Chanderpaul's decision to me. Lets see, always tough to understand Windies inconsistent gameplays!
