India:DTH Service

Oh man, chill Pranav. You have Dish so you say they are good, I have Reliance so I'll say it is good. Some other people have other connections so they will say their connections are good. Human nature really. Seems you have taken it a bit seriously. :p

We're having a healthy debate and I see nothing wrong with it. If you have a read at the entire thread you'll notice there have been some pretty good points that have been put forward by both the sides. I do agree that the tone has been a bit borderline, but I certainly think it is acceptable, especially so because we've had some decent on-topic discussion.

I would advice you to keep away from such discussion(s) if you have nothing to add to it. Would be better.

Yeah, and Airtel even provides two HD channels which are so awesome! They even flip StarCricket HD and ESPN HD when two matches are being played simultaneously which makes it so real! They are surely Milky Way's best DTH provider! :rolleyes

Wow, then I doubt such posts add anything to the discussion. It was just a light comment. Seriously, there wasn't a need to go that far telling me to stay away from the thread as I pointed out your way of posting.

You probably aren't familiar with the concept of a 'debate' then. That was a part of the discussion we were having.

I don't want to continue this discussion any longer as we are simply going off topic. If you have issues or want to discuss this any further, I would be happy if we go through the business via the VMs/PMs.

Meet, you can go to aajkideals.com and compare the DTH services. I compared selecting 'HDTV' option and it seems Airtel is the way to go. The service, quality and pricing seem really good. The other option they're showing is DishTV but by their view the service isn't up to the mark. Plus, it costs above 400 Rs. per month compared to like 300 odd for Airtel.

Contacted ADTV CC about new satellite, they said we may have some sound problem between 5th March to 13th March during testing and Discovery HD and Movie Now HD and some other HD channel will available within month. Expect major changes during this week. :thumbs

Per month prices I posted are excluding the installation and set top box costs.

Tata Sky.

Pros

--> 5000 rs yearly providing all channels that are there plus 12 showcase movies which individual cost 50-75 rs.

--> Cricket from any angle. You can watch matches from Stump Cam,Rolling Cam,etc.

--> High Quality

--> Great Customer Service here in Mumbai atleast.

Cons

--> 5000/12 = 416 rs per month.

1. They also give 12 free movies/year + If you have TS+ they provide VoD playing several English/Hindi Movies which change every week.

2. Well the Active sports feature is only there during World cups and provides the different views for India games only.

3. Agreed, Even the SD channels are really high quality if you use the Component cable (For TS+)

4. Again Agreed. They're quite quick at solving problems and getting the connection work done.

I can't really say 416 pm is a lot because the no. of channels they're providing and Active feature along with it. It is worth it.

I might need to get another connection, reading the site I mentioned seems Airtel is the way to go. Though, I've been using Reliance Digital TV and it is good. Haven't had any trouble with them. But, I'm considering other options too. Airtel or Tata Sky? Which would be better, HDTV. Don't really need the recorder as I find it useless. Cricket is fun when it is live.

You gotta understand that a DTH service can't be rated solely on the basis of its picture quality. Other factors such as costumer service, signal strength (especially when it is raining), consumer base and the network coverage are also considered important.
Idk about other DTH but Airtel is considered as best by many people for it's signal strength during rain, storm etc. Anyway they are shifting to SES 7 satellite which will have more space and better signal.

Is this for TS or TS+? TS+ is the recorder, right?

Thats the subscription price for 1 year (it provides all channels + any new channels included in the year will be shown without additional cost charged). Doesn't matter what box you have.

Yeah TS+ is the recorder.

Tata Sky should easily be the better option. It seems to offer the best overall service in the DTH environment. Surely it is a bit expensive, but if you are wise enough to choose a pack that meets your checklist of channels, you should get it at a decent rate.

Airtel is currently horrible. I am sure you wouldn't want to buy an HD connection for just two HD channels, one of which keeps flipping regularly!

Also actually it is 6000 now, i guess they changed it recently.

500 per month then. Well, it has its advantages but that price is a tad too high.

What? I seriously didn't know this. Might well go for TS or will get another RDTV connection for 50%.
