It would be very surprising to not see Rahul in all the squad. Apart from Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Bhuvi should be playing all 3 formats for India. Raydu has always played well whenever he was given a chance for India and he is playing well right now but I still don't think he will get a recall.

Great to see Rayudu getting in the squad, he can grab that no. 4 position now! Rahul also in there is not a surprise at all. I am also happy to see Siddharth Kaul rewarded for his efforts. I like the squad. No Raina in the ODI squad means he might not feature in the WC squad.

Ridiculous that Dinesh Karthik does not feature in that ODI side to England. I dont see the need for Shreyas Iyer when we already have so many other 'slow and steady' ODI batsmen like Rohit, Rahul, Dhawan, Kohli, Rayudu, Dhoni, etc. We need a batsmen who can come in and start hitting the big shots and can be innovative. Also DK is a specialist keeper, and is the ideal backup for MSD. I can understand why they did not select Raina in the ODI squad, but to me, Dinesh Karthik must be there in place of Shreyas Iyer.

Iyer has his time and can bloom into a big ODI batsman post the WC.

Dinesh Karthik is in the ODI side, if he wasn't I would be the first one to post it and would be disgusted!

Yes. He is more mature now. He want to finish matches in 'DK' Style. He deserve this respect for his intuition.

Manish Pandey selected for T20s against England and Ireland but he's been axed from Odis!
Like seriously? This guy deserves more than Pant,Iyer,Surya?

I don't mind if he is selected in Odis, But selecting him ahead of those names in T20s is cruel.
Krunal Pandya is again ignored

Oh... Well the article I read did not feature his name. Sorry, my bad! Just checked Cricinfo now and seems like DK is in the ODI side. I am happy with the side now!

I feel bad for Raina, but I also think he hasn't done quite enough in recent times to earn that ODI spot yet. But I would also say that all is not lost for him and if he can have a great second half in the IPL and perform well in the T20's in Ireland/England, he can continue to knock the ODI doors. He has huge experience and his skill in the lower middle order will be helpful and can make Dhoni bat a lot more freely during the WC.

Manish Pandey should not be part of either the T20 side or the ODI side. With his recent batting form, he is a big luxury in the ODI side (just like how Rahane is a luxury in the shorter formats). They could've gone for Iyer in that T20 side (Pant might not get in, since there is already MSD and DK).

Good to see that players who did well in domestic circuit are included in India A squad. Already hyped for the tour.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race.

Too many slow and steady players will spoil the party and we have seen that many times. You have Rohit who needs to bat slowly before he gets set. Same with Dhawan, same with Kohli, same to the times 100 with Dhoni. You cant have too many players like that at the same time.

I still think Raina has a chance over Iyer if he (Raina) can have some good T20 games and a good second half of the IPL. I want to see Iyer in the team but more so after the WC

This would be my WC squad-

R Sharma
S Dhawan
V Kohli
D Karthik
MS Dhoni
H Pandya
K Pandya
B Kumar
K Yadav
S Kaul
J Bumrah

KL Rahul
U Yadav
Y Chahal
S Raina

If KL Rahul keeps going the way he is going at the moment, I'd even contemplate pushing Sharma to 4 and dropping DK. But, DK is red red hot and ideally I'd like him to bat 5 and Dhoni 4. The good thing is that the competition is healthy. India shouldn't be scared to make bold calls for the XI at the world cup.

Chosen the two Pandya's to have 6 bowling options and I've noticed that the two wristies tend to travel the day they travel. Krunal renders batting and control. I would play the two wristies against teams like England, SA, Australia and NZ who are hopeless against spin depending upon the track. Some of the tracks in ENG are roads and it doesn't matter who bowls there, you just travel the journey. Sid Kaul is another excellent death bowler with the added benefit of being able to swing it away from the RH batters up top. Umesh can always come in his place to pair with Bhuvi up top if Kaul doesn't perform. Krunal has to play in my opinion. Hardik at 7 and bowling 10 will bite us in a knockout I have a feeling.

By making bold calls I mean dropping Dhawan, Rohit, Dk or KL on the basis of form from the XI.

Another failure for Pujara in the county cricket. For a guy who has been playing there very frequently for an Indian player, I dare say he has been very poor. I know this is early English season and he is playing in division 1 but he is an International cricketer who is supposed to be the rock of Indian test team in couple of months against even a better bowling attack. The way he is batting at the moment doesn't fill me with confidence. If we are to well in England, we will need Pujara to perform better.

At the same time, Ishant has been pretty decent for Sussex. I will also go ahead and say that he is pretty much locked in the final 11 in the first test match against England alongside Bhuvi.

I don't see Krunal being picked in the WC squad simply because if the selectors had him in radar, he would have been given a chance by now in the senior team. He barely made it to India A team last time around and wasn't that good. The only finger spinner that selectors might take to the WC is a toss up between Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar. I am not a fan of Akshar and Washington has had a pretty poor IPL season. However, we must remember that he was probably the find of the Nidhas trophy for India. He choked both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka who are pretty decent players of spin. Of course this upcoming season is going to very important for Washington but if he manages to perform well in whatever limited chances that he gets, I think he will be the only finger spinner in the WC squad ahead of Akshar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin.

Yeah Pujara's form is a massive worry for us. Hopefully he gets his form back now. As you say, he is crucial for India and considering the duration he has been playing county he shouldn't be struggling. Might just be the case of one feel good knock!

Yes. Krunal will be a big luxury in English conditions. And if he had a serious chance for the WC squad, he would've been blooded by now and should've played quite a few games for India. The fact that he has not done that says that he won't make the WC squad.

I think Kuldeep and Chahal might be the only spinners picked for the WC squad. In conditions where you are not likely to see much turn, a third spinner could be luxury. If they do pick a third spinner, it should be Sundar, primarily for his agility on the field and his youth. Ashwin's slowness on the field is totally unwanted, and Jadeja is soon expected to become a past India international player.
