India tour of West Indies Aug-Sept 2019

Jadeja looks a super transformed player. He showed signs of this in the WC itself. He is putting himself in that position where he is undroppable.

I think he hasn't put a foot wrong since he played the Test match at The Oval last year.

Can't understand the defensive approach from the Indian batsman in the Powerplay and scoring just 60 runs in 11 overs.[DOUBLEPOST=1564852256][/DOUBLEPOST]I can see West Indies coming back into this one. This is poor batting from India !!! :facepalm

A poor shot from batsman of Kohli's quality! India are throwing it away now!

Still believe in Jadeja to take us home.

West Indies gave us away some bonus runs in last 3 overs and we are back in it. But not the way to expect this side to play when they are chasing such a small total. Had it been 15-20 more runs India would've struggled to get to that score with this approach.[DOUBLEPOST=1564853495][/DOUBLEPOST]West Indies bowlers will trouble this Indian side with some short stuff in the Test series.

Cant talk about test series seeing the happenings today. For tests, we will have Pujara and Rahane, two players who are solid blockers of the cricket ball. And India do not worry about short stuff. Its lateral movement/swing/multi-paced pitch that concerns us.

On the other hand this T20 Indian looks solid great batting depth and enough bowling options as well add Bumrah and Pandya in their respective positions the team will be formidable one on good batting wickets which is usually the case in the T20s.

It all depends on India finding that elusive number 5 player who can play aggressively right from the beginning and also be capable of making a decent contribution to the score. Pant or Pandya would have been the ideal options but both seem fixed at four and six respectively as of now.

Mystified by Rahul’s drop, he was in good form in our last T20I series and did nothing to warrant being dropped. Puzzling decisions like these are the reason for the Indian management and leadership group being constantly criticised. :facepalm

Great end that from Sundar! Proves why he should get more chances in India's T20I side. He was badly used by RCB in the IPL. Pune and Fleming/Smith/Dhoni used him expertly in that IPL season where Pune reached the final. Sundar adds crucial depth to India's lower order batting. And he is a specialist spinner who can open the bowling for India in T20I's. If India play Krunal, Jadeja and Sundar like this together, India's batting will look in great shape. Only change is for Hardik to come in and take Pandey's spot.

I too didn't understand why Dhawan was preferred over Rahul in a T20 match. Same way, when you have a player like Pandey in the batting order, pushing Pant ahead makes no sense. This is what happened in the WC with Dhoni where Kohli and the management literally turned a deaf ear to all the calls about "playing Dhoni at No. 4". Even Rohit Sharma before the WC cited his preference for playing Dhoni at No. 4 (maybe it could be an item that triggered the rift news between Rohit and Kohli?). If Hardik was playing today, he would've come ahead of Pandey. In a small total like today, it wont hurt. But when you are chasing a challenging total and in a pressure knockout match, decisions like that will cost you the tournament and this team management has shown no promise of learning from their mistakes. That is why the calls for them (including Kohli) to be relieved of their leadership duties.

I think given the great amount of talent we have, we should be having a different team for each format except for few players like Hardik Pandya who can play both the T20 and ODIs. Like for example let Dhawan be our opener in the ODIs while Rahul will open in T20s, with so many new bowlers kicking in let Bhuvi focus on ODIs and Tests which will also reduce his workload. This way we can nourish our players who'll play a specific format and get better at it than play every format and be average at all. Should also reduce injuries. I also don't mind having different captains for different formats of the game.

There is a belief in Indian Cricket that one player who doesn't perform in one format he doesn't do well in the other either. This has been followed since last 7-8 years!

The fact is Dhoni left his Captaincy only due to this reason. Split Captaincy can't be successful for a sub-continent team. We can see what had happened to Sri Lanka in last few years because of it.
