World Cup 2007
India in England
Special Edition 3

Battle Of The Champions- Edition 3, India's WC Squad

cricketchatbanner.png

Hello and warm welcome once again to the show, Battle of the Champions' - Third edition of this World Cup. In this edition we are going to have a brief walkthrough at the Indian team picked for the forthcoming World Cup in England. It's to be noted that selection panel members include Kris Srikkanth ( chairman ), Yashpal Sharma, Narendra Hirwani, Surendra Bhave and Raja Venkat. Right, let us now have a look on the players selected for this major tournament.

Indian Team - Batsmen List

batsmen.png

" Someone from this list has to dominate if India has to finish on the high side! " - Srikkanth, the Chairman of Selectors

MS Dhoni ( Captain/Wicket Keeper ) - With Dhoni entering as Indian side captain in recent CB series, there is nothing special to quote about him except for that fact that he used to drink litres & litres of milk per day. :p All which Indian team needs from this man is, the aggressive tactics in captaincy as well as in his own batting! It is to be noted that, Dhoni's fast scoring runs in semi finals of Champions Trophy Vs Pakistan helped the team to progress to the finals despite Tendulkar's heroics in other end.

V. Sehwag ( Vice Captain ) - With the general saying, " When Sehwag is on song, none can stop him! ", it is going to be very crucial for Sehwag to play a dominating role and overpower the opponent. As an opening batsmen and a part time bowler, he has already raised the bars of expectations among everyone including the experts like Ian Chappell.

S. Tendulkar - After being a dominating World Cup performer (1996/2003 & to some extent-1999 ), Tendulkar is obviously expected to dominate once again and play an anchoring role in this World Cup. With Tendulkar and Sehwag expected to open for India, the start which these two are going to give does matter a lots.

G. Gambhir - With fitness being a big constraint for Gambhir, he has been given a green signal luckily. As this is going to be the first world cup for Gambhir, it's going to be a great opportunity for this man to utilize & impress the selectors.

Yuvraj Singh - Yet another power hitter! The middle order badly needs Yuvi's consistency and power hittings when comes to the thrilling finishes. With recent century in Australia, the confidence must have got enhanced to a good extent for this player to outsmart the opponents under pressure.

Suresh Raina - Another World Cup debutant & another power hitter! Undoubtedly, Raina is equipped with many talents ( batting, bowling & fielding ), but how far he is going to cope up and meet the selector's expectations? One has to wait & see. Good opportunity for Raina to prove his skills in an overseas condition and as well as in the World Cup.

Can these players give us a Surprise?

miscplayers.png

" You never know, either Kohli or Jadeja or Karthik might produce a match winning innings in this World Cup. They are talented without any doubts & deserve a go! " - Srikkanth, the Chairman of Selectors

R. Jadeja - A very handful allrounder! It is definitely a big ask to have expectations on Jadeja, but the selectors believe that his inclusion in team XI will give the 5th bowling option along with the deep batting line up.

Virat Kohli - The aggressive captain who helped India to grab the trophy in U19 level! Kohli's talented batting skills might enhance the middle order, but he really needs a lot of luck to get into Team XI and play his first WC match to prove his skills.

Dinesh Karthik - A backup wicket keeper and a talented batsman/fieldsman. Unless Dhoni is going to get injured, it is hard for Karthik to make his way into the team XI. Some might think that Karthik's selection could be due to the politics of Srikkanth but, his recent good form in IPL and Domestic circuit has helped his selection ahead of Rohit Sharma & Yusuf Pathan.

Indian Team - Bowling List.

bowlers.png

" Our bowling department haven't looked great, but this time we believe that we can make a big impact! " - Srikkanth, the Chairman of Selectors

Zaheer Khan - This player needs to be in his prime form to lead from the front in bowling department. Without any doubts, Zaheer is one of the best experienced bowlers at present and he is expected to roar hard against the opponents with the new ball and in end overs.

Ishant Sharma - Ishant is definitely a talented player but needs a right guidance and support in another end. With Zaheer and Ishant expected to open the bowling, there is really a huge dependency with these two in removing their nightmares soon.

Praveen Kumar - Yet another World Cup debutant! Praveen Kumar is famous for his swinging capabilities & with England conditions, he is expected to throw some surprises. Well, hopefully he does. :)

A. Nehra - On of the experienced bowlers who has found his rhythm back. With Zaheer & Ishant to be the certain openers, it is going to be a tough fight between Praveen & Nehra to get into the team XI.

R. Ashwin & Harbhajan Singh - Selected to be the spin twins of our Indian side. In particular, Ashwin's selection is really a surprise to everyone. After giving some consistent performances in domestic circuit, Ashwin has been given a nod in this world cup. But with Harbhajan likely to be the strike bowler in spin department, it is going to be tough for Ashwin to get into the side in England conditions.

: So, that concludes our walkthrough on the Indian team players and we will soon catch you again for the next edition. Till then, bye from the studio. Before leaving the studio, just a small reminder on the group split up, Good bye. :)

Since you asked I'm telling that Ashwin is not a popular player in 2007 so it is unlikely that he'll find a Indian Contract. Can you give the .psd of those screens?
BTW, the update is good and when'll the match occur?

Sorry for the darken thing. I tried to give a picture similar to the one we used to see in televisions but don't know really, how it has turned out to be. :)

You need PSD for? It is not just one psd. Or if you want it for crosschecking, let me know. :rolleyes

Also please read this.

This outcome of the story is just restricted within the imagination of the writer & if it accidentally coincides with any real life incidents, the writer isn't responsible for any negatives (if any).

First Post

Real 2007 World cup Indian squad was like a trash can with useless garbage inside it. Real 2007 World cup doesn't have two groups either.

There is a factor called " storyline " which should dynamically adapt the situation of the story. Just because 2011 World cup is coming, I cannot say I am playing 2011 Wcup leaving the current story & starting a new one for no reason. My storyline is limited to the journey to 2007 World cup. Likewise, just because it's limited to 2007 world cup that doesn't mean we should stick to the same players.

As a writer, we should be able to switch dynamically to capture the interest among the people as per the modern trend.

To be frank, my intention before starting this world cup is to make "Suren Ram" to play in this World Cup and make his dream come true. But I didn't have enough time in my hands to update that story equally. If it sounds greek & latin to anyone, you can search " Born to Fight For Sucess, An Untold Story " here. :) Unfortunately that plan flopped.

You could probably fast forward time to 2011 and play the World Cup ,as the real one is approaching soon.

Thank you for the suggestions. Actually, except for the title " World cup 2007 ", all the others belong to the current trend i.e. squad, captain etc. Even the venue & teams for the WC is imaginary i.e. compatible with the game AC 09.

Basically, I want to take this one as the imaginary one. " Building a story with imagination and making it realistic is a real challenge for any writer than building a story based on real life story line ", in my opinion. Hope members like it. :)

Battle Of The Champions- Edition 4, Australia's WC Squad

cricketchatbanner.png

Hello and warm welcome once again to the show, Battle of the Champions' - Fourth edition of this World Cup. In this show, we would be having a brief look at the Aussie squad announced for the World Cup. It is to be noted that Aussie squad selection followed the very next day after the recent critics of Ian Chappell on the current team's strength. Well, it's time for us now to have a look at those 15 members. Here we go..

Aussie's Team Fifteen for the World Cup

ausfwc15pngv2.png

" It's a surprise call for me ", says Noffke!

This team composition definitely looks to contain a good mixture of talents. It does not have many frontline players who played their recent CB series - Hilfy, Lee, Hopes, Hauritz, Marsh and North. So, is this a step forward or backward? Is it worth to have many new faces into the team all of a sudden for such a big tournament? This really looks to be a huge gamble by the Aussie selectors. We need to wait and see how this gamble is going to turn the table of fortune for the Australian side in this series.

Key Players To Watch!

ausplayerstowatchpng.png

It would be a real bonus for Aussie side if anyone from the above puts up a surprise stolen show in this series

D Warner ( Likely Aussie Opener of this World Cup ) - With Warners' exquisite T20 potential to strike the bowlers all over the park, he has been promoted one stage further by the Aussie selectors. All he needed to do is, " play the natural game! ", which might fetch Australia a good start in the batting. With Watson & Warner likely to open up the batting, the huge impact of these 2W's is what the selectors have hoped for. Let's see if this will work as expected. ;)

M Hussey ( Middle Order Anchoring Role ) - With many good performances provided by Hussey in all the formats of the game, Hussey's role in middle order is going to play a very crucial role. Bad start or a good start would be reflecting the middle order to a huge extent in taking the game towards a good finish. Hussey's experience adds more flavor to the selectors' expectations. Can Hussey end up as a good match winner in this series? Or he is going to raise the eyebrows of the selectors further? We will wait and see. :p

A Noffke ( All rounder role? ) - Definitely not a young talent. He is 30+ YO and the reason why the selectors have picked him ahead of J.Hopes remains as a mystery! " The selectors have gone crazy and mad... ", believes many! Leaving apart the negative sides of it, Noffke really do have the good potential in both batting & bowling. So, the obvious expectations from selectors would be - to finish with 2-3 fer & a quick 20-40 runs/match. But it's likely that Noffke had to fight with Steven Smith for his place in the team XI as, Smith being the only strike spinner in the squad.

White Bear ( Accelerator of the side ) - With 2Ws ( Warner & Watson ) given the opening slot to shatter the bowlers, it's with the third W's responsibility ( White ) to shatter the bowlers in the end overs. If White can manage to play the end overs, we can expect the obvious fireworks everywhere in the stadium. :) His spin ability can add flavor by a wicket or two. In short, Aussies need these 3Ws ( Warner, Watson and White ) to keep shining for the side to keep winning the matches.

: Well, with that brief walkthrough on the promising Aussie side, it concludes our fourth edition and we will soon catch you again for the next edition. Till then, bye from the studio. Before leaving the studio, just a small reminder on the group split up, Good bye. :)

I rather have Haddin open with Watson he has experience and can do the same job but better than Warner. Infact Warner's average of 15 and strike-rate of 77 in the format proves that more likely than not he fails, could bring in another all-rounder in place of him.

Surprised to see Lee isn't in the squad, would've been interesting to see Johnson, Lee, Siddle & Tait in the same lineup. :p
