Mar 17 : England vs West Indies

Should have opened with Tremlett, not sure Bresnan is an opening bowler. Bit of a gamble with Swann, means a seamer doesn't get use of the new ball and loses us the control Swann can give when needed later in the innings. What might happen is we MIGHT get a couple of wickets from Swann and then they just coast along with up and down seamers with the old ball.

Now Tremlett is getting slaughtered (14 off 4 balls so far), England don't get Gayle out pretty sharpish he might score a double hundred :facepalm

Agreed.
Trott is being unfairly criticized because of his high average...people want to take him down a peg or two and say "he is not that good".
Yes, we all know he doesn't have a strike rate of 152, blah blah, just shut up and let him bat, he is doing his job well.

Exactly why he should be opening, he may not bat quickly (but SR of ~80 isn't bad) but he bats long. Put him at the top and people bat around his hundreds that he'll score once a series.

Precisely. Not every total is going to be 300+, you need a solid platform and wickets in the bag for late in the innings. How did the run a ball batsmen in the side do?

Prior 21 off 21 balls
Bopara 4 off 16 balls
Morgan 7 off 13 balls

It's not often any of our batsmen scoring at a run a ball or better get much further than Trott did today (47 off 38 balls) and you won't win many matches if that is the highest score!

Maybe England should have dumped all their seamers and picked 4 spinners...oh, they don't have 4 spinners...
Apparently Yardy turned one once, but some say it just hit a footmark.
Rashid turned a few, but that was on the second bounce...

BBC are showing a wicket at 53/1 but cricinfo ain't :facepalm

Bit of an unfair situation to throw Tredwell to, like him or loathe him. 58/0 and racing, no win situation for him unless he happens to take wickets which I doubt.

TMS won't be reading worthless duck method sheets to see where England need to be wickets wise, they'll be checking out flight schedules!

I say keep the pressure on, at least until a couple more wickets fall. Tremlett and Tredwell haven't played much, Bresnan will be bricking it if he comes back into the attack, Shight is well shight and Swann seems to be the only bowler windies should fear.

Get to 105 off 15 overs and throttle back into second gear. Don't forget England have gone with the genius tactic of only fielding four bowlers and two of those haven't played in the competition before today :facepalm

Great chance for England now as they can put WI under pressure.A sammy wicket is needed

----------

only one successful challenge for WI till now out of 6.I think they take it just for the sake of taking it

----------

Well Well Well a collapse is started :facepalm
