Pakistan vs. England in UAE (2 T20s)

Lol for the longest time before the Indians finally picked Badri, it would have been great for cricket and the media if the Pakistanis gave him citizenship, he could have walked onto the team!

The way our batting is at the moment, I suspect Reid could be used as a batsman as well! :laugh

I thought its only India who fly to different parts of the world to play meaningless events. Is this the first time two international sides play just a T20 `series` which is`nt a part of any test tour.

England are horrible at T20's. No idea what you guys are on about. Pakistan are clear favorites to win this.

Exactly. England have had some high points in ODIs since 1992 but haven't been a major force in limited overs since then. I think it's too much theorising with selections, wrapped up in numbers of bowlers, specialist batting and bowling vs all-round cricketers, OD specialists vs quality, types of bowlers, batting keeper vs keeper specialist etc. It doesn't matter so much in Tests, you pick your best players, but we chop and change so much in ODIs that it's hard for the quality cricketers to get a chance. I mean Strauss should never have been dropped from ODIs, and then of course several keepers have been tried and dumped by OPENING with them and finding they all average about 22 when opening.

But for me the key in T20s is almost the perverse reverse of what happens in ODIs. We pick specialist ODI players for ODIs, but then when we play T20 a lot of the England squad that plays Tests and ODIs remain even though they hardly play T20 for their counties.

I don't normally comment or post on matches that West Indies are not involved in and even when they are sometimes I say nothing!! But this I had to ask, why the hell on earth would Shoaib Malik bowl this over and cost the team 14 runs, is this guy a front line bowler? This is exactly the reason why there seems to be persistent controversy with Pakistan and calls about match fixing!!! I would not mind had it been Gul or any other first change bowler, but why him???

Joe Denly and Jonathan Trott out, Craig Kieswetter and Michael Lumb in. They just aren't a good T20 opening pair. Denly has had his chances and done nothing. Time to give some other young batsman a chance to prove themselves.

Perfect scenario for KP and Morgan. Hopefully one of them will see us home.

I think there's certainly a case for dropping Denly, he just hasn't shown anything in Twenty20 games. I'd be in favour of dropping him and Prior and bringing in Kieswetter to open and keep and get Owais Shah back in the middle order. Morgan and Collingwood could easily bat at 5 and 6, rather than 4 and 5, as they seem to come into their own in the middle - late overs.

Morgan, you beauty! I can not believe Malik came to bowl another over. Oh how much I have missed KP's sweep and leg flicks. Glad to see him back in action. England to win this comfortably.

I agree, but I am beside myself with Malik, it is obvious why this guy was such a pain to deal with by his peers when he was captain!!!

Thats why he never lasted as captain. But the way the team is set up he was going to have to bowl eventually. He is that 5th bowler for them.

Gorgeous straight drive. This guy, Morgan got everything. Leg glance, Pull shot, Cover drive and now this elegant straight drive. Simply class.

Well they're a bowler short due to Afridi not playing and Malik's stats are actually pretty useful for Twenty20s, so it's hardly a huge shock.
