Pakistan gave away too many runs after a decent start. England's session one has to say. But only because Pakistan made it easier than it should have been.
This team might be a good hypothetical shout, but practically it would struggle.Bring in Saud Shakeel and Usman Salahuddin for Azhar and Asad, if they keep playing like this, make Masood or Rizwan captain, and start over, I say. Abbas can hang around for a few years, his bowling style isn't too burdensome, and the rest of the team is young. Imran Butt, Sami Aslam, Sahibzada Farhan, Haider Ali, Zeeshan Malik can all make a case for Test selection.
I certainly wasn't suggesting that. @Bevab made an interesting connection between Archer and Sterling. It's definitely a factor. And something Archer has had to, unfortunately, experience (i think at least three higher profile incidents have occurred in the last 12 months), I've no idea how that might effect him.Just to be very very clear my view of Jofra Archer has nothing to do with the colour of his skin! Something like that is absolutely abhorrent to me in all cases in all degrees! Purely from a cricketing point of view just as I would view Jos Buttler as being overrated in his role as well. I agree he needs some time to find his groove and he is a very good bowler.
Added to this, remove Sarfaraz, Kashif Bhatti and all other deadweights from the contention for the Test squad. This team might be a good hypothetical shout, but practically it would struggle.
Yes, Rizwan has decent captaincy experience and record but he has played 5/6 Tests only. As much as I like Shan Masood, he needs a few more runs under his belt. But yeah, he is the most likely replacement for Azhar.
Saud Shakeel, Usman Salahuddin, Zeeshan Malik hardly get any first-class games. Sorry but Sahibzada Farhan is just another domestic player. Not good enough on the international circuit. If we are to play him, we might even make Tabish Khan our leader of the fast-bowling pack.
Imran Butt, Haider Ali and Zeeshan Malik, who just got promoted from 2 XI to 1st XI during the middle of the last season, are too inexperienced. QEA Trophy starts in October and it should clear a lot of things. But one thing that is certain is that this WTC Cycle is the last for Azhar, Asad, Abid Ali, Fawad Alam and possibly Yasir Shah as well. Officially, they are all a little too old now and only God knows their real age, given that age-fudging is pretty common here.
My ideal Test lineup for NZ tour this December would be:
Shan Masood (C)
Sami Aslam (performed against NZ and Eng)/ Imran Butt/ Imam-ul-Haq
Usman Salahuddin/ Saud Shakeel/ Haider Ali
Babar
Haris Sohail/ Shadab (looking at him for that Steve Smith role)
Rizwan
A fast-bowling all-rounder for God's sake (possibly Aamir Yamin)
Yasir Shah/ Shadab/ Zafar Gohar (if Shadab's batting isn't good enough, have him in contention for the replacement spinner)
Shaheen Afridi
Abbas
Naseem Shah
Groom Rizwan and Haider Ali for the captaincy. Also, groom Musa Khan and Hasnain as the 2 quickies' replacement.

@Dale88 Archer's profile isn't the same as Sterling. Only Stokes probably comes close to a footballer in terms of fame and they pull some shite on him too.[DOUBLEPOST=1598012555][/DOUBLEPOST]Have only seen the recap. Interesting review from Sibbo.
The more I see Azhar captain and bat, the more I believe my dog can captain and bat at #3 for the Pakistan Test team next year.Just saw on Cricinfo that Azhar had removed the third slip... in the first session of a Test match in England, after a player was caught at fourth slip earlier.
Shakeel is underrated. Should play ODIs too. This team might be a good hypothetical shout, but practically it would struggle.
