2nd ODI
Live from Saxton Oval, Nelson
The Kiwis have gone 1-0 up in the ODI series, can the Tigers hit back today and level things here in their strongest format?
Shakib says that the last game was a disappointing performance with the bat. But this is a new day and a new game. 1 change in the team, Tanzim Hasan replaces Hasan Mahmud in the XI. He has shown some potential in the few games he's played and we feel he will be great in NZ conditions. We are sticking with the rest of the side and backing them to do well as this is our strongest XI. Hopefully the batters find better form today.
Bangladesh: Liton Das, Saif Hassan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan , Towhid Hridoy, Mushfiqur Rahim , Afif Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Tanzim Hasan Sakib , Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam
(Changes: Tanzim Hasan Sakib , Hasan Mahmud )
Santner says that was a good performance last game to start things off with a win. Says the batting has done well and it's nice to see the Bench Strength perform with Kane, Conway and Mitchell rested. Just a change in the bowling, Duffy goes out and Shipley comes in. Shipley has been decent in ODIs and did well in a couple of tours with a fringe bowling lineup. We will plan to rotate our quicks like this, will be nice to see what he can offer.
New Zealand: Finn Allen, Rachin Ravindra, Henry Nicholls, Will Young, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips, Tom Blundell , Mitchell Santner , Kyle Jamieson, Henry Shipley , Lockie Ferguson
(Changes: Henry Shipley , Jacob Duffy )
New Zealand to bat first
1st Innings
New Zealand have made a respectable score of 276, featuring a Finn Allen fifty at the top and a top score of 78 from Will Young, which is then followed by a partnership between Blundell and Santner towards the end that helps them push for a 270+ score, on a rather tough wicket.
The inclusion of Tanzim Sakib has done wonders for Bangladesh as he has scalped 4 wickets for 48 in his 10 overs, featuring both the openers and the dangerous Phillips. Bangladesh would be happy with this bowling performance compared to the previous game. They need 277 runs to win at 5.54 RPO.
2nd Innings
Bangladesh, in response, make the wicket look so much easier to bat on. With another Shanto masterclass of 92 and a good knock from Saif Hassan at the top, Bangladesh chase down the score with 4 overs to spare, Hridoy and Mushfiqur scoring the winning runs in a partnership of 72
The Black Caps bowling was a let-down compared to last game and leak too many runs in the chase. Lockie again tops the chart but with 2 wickets for an expensive 6.86 RPO. Jamieson also gets hit at 7 an over for his one wicket and Shipley picks 1 for 53 in his 9. Overall, they failed to break the partnerships and prevent the Tigers from getting comfortable in the chase.
Bangladesh won by 6 wickets
Series Tied 1-1
Najmul Hossain Shanto gets the MOTM for his well-made 92 that helps Bangladesh claim victory, after his lone effort in the 1st ODI which ended up in the losing side
