Your Cricket The Art of Offspin.

Can someone give me tips to bowl faster offspins? Till now I can bowl only 50-60 km/hr maximum.:facepalm

I would say you need to really push your arm through, meaning your bowling hand ending up on the opposite hip, try that out, also i suppose it depends on your age and size what your able to get out of your body.

Ok so tried Zorax's suggestion today in the nets, I released the ball significantly before my arm reached the apex of the bowling action. The ball came out much more loopier and even drifted a bit once. The trajectory is now much more parabola like and not like a medium pacers. However the accuracy has gone out the window now.

Good suggestion, will just have to keep working on it now

Yup, accuracy is a problem for me too. I inevitably will bowl 1 fulltoss and 1 wide in an over, unless I'm bowling everything flat.

know what you mean, ill bowl about 3 full ones 1-2 decent delivery's and 1 absolute shocker, gotta get some consistency going.

I need to thanks Swann for my action. I get my arm high above my head and really rip it into the air in the direction of the batsmen's leg stump.

I can get 5/6 balls to land at exactly where I want it. I reckon having your release point right above your eyes really helps for control.

Good shout im gonna try and concentrate more on my release more than anything else, i like to try and copy swanns action aswell.

I slip in offies in my mixed-bag of spin bowling. Nothing too great, I can get it to pitch where I want it (around abouts, at least) with decent flight but not too much spin off turf wickets. As an offspinner you aren't really there to pick up wickets on unresponsive tracks, just to contain the batsman. Most of my wickets (like 3) from off spinners seem to be from either miss hits or stumpings (beaten in flight).

I bowl offies. I can rip them along way with good accuracy as well. I've been known to pitch balls way outside off only for batsmen to try cut me which ends up crashing into leg stump.

I reckon I'm better then Nathan Hauritz to be honest.

(Thats not saying much)

Hooper added 2 Minutes and 5 Seconds later...

My offies can turn but I seem to put it in the half voley length too often and get driven way too much. This was in the nets and after that I've become reluctant to bowl it. Just find my leggies with the extra bounce cause more problems than my offies.

But that is my plan. Keep bowling half volleys and hope 1 spins.

If they keep cutting you, you are going nowhere.

Actually, to certain batsmen I do bowl short and hope they try cutting me, because they inevitably end up trying to cut a delivery pitched on middle stump, which never works. One of my favourite tape-ball cricket plans, along with enticing a left armer to hit against the spin and having a right handed batsman bowled around his legs.

I was a victim of that plan once myself. :laugh

I was cutting and pulling a slow bowler who kept on bowling short. And I was getting worked up about that stroke so much that I tried to cut a fullish ball, which ended up sliding way below my bat and crashed onto the stumps.

Never cut a spinner! Slip, leg slip, short-midwicket and throw in the short one every now and then...Absolutely love it when someone falls for a trap that I have deliberately set :D. If only it happened more often when I bowl spin, it's one of the beauties of spin bowling.
