700 is very high for a bowler. Like incredibly high. Generally to be rated around 700 you need to have a couple of first class centuries and some 50s over a 50-100 game career.

i rated him on the basis that i have given Daniel Vettori 940 batting points and about 900 to Chaminda Vaas...

ok, i will change it to around 550 or so, is that ok...

and what do you think about rating of other players....

I would also still class Malik as an all-rounder. He still does a fair amount of bowling.

but he doesnt bowl too much in the international circuit....that's why.....

Can be now considered as a part time bowler like M Clarke....

Btw, i think he started his cricket more as a bowler rather than batsmen, i think!!!!!!!

kunal dont waste your time on shahid nazir and mohammad hussain...they both are over 30 something.....so i dont think its worth your time tinkering with em....

Vettori is New Zealand's second best batsman, behind Taylor.
He is averaging over 45 in the last five years...

If I made a patch I would rate him around 1400...

It is not about last 5 years, its mainly about this current year where he is averaging around 63 in test...

So, may be ICC 2010 will come up with Vettori's rating around 1300-1400, but for now i think 900-1000 is ok range for him......

He needs to be given more chances with the bat as Hedger told because as far as i also know, he is batting around 6th-8th position

It doesn't matter, he is averaging 45 over the past five years, while warrant's a rating of 1300 - 1400...
Over the last year he is going at 63 like you said kunal, showing you how he deserves a much higher rating than he has in the real game, and when you create a patch.

What I have found is there is a DIRECT comparison between player's career FC average and their rating, so therefore he will will not be rated that highly, as for the first five years of his career he was averaging between 15 - 20...

Yeah, that is pretty much true, i think this point should be included in ICC Wishlist for 2010 that players should more judged on basis of their performance in last 1-2 years, rather than FC avg

Plus, their rating should be based on whether they are international or domestic, because if someone is doing well domestic circuit, he is rated very high
For eg, S Munir of Pakistan rated 479 with bowl and many more.........
