innings3.jpg

Pakistan have taken 3 wickets in the space of 10 overs as they look to find some way of winning this all but lost game. England now require just 49 runs to win from 25 overs and the win almost looks ensured. However Engladn were reminder this was green pitch when they lost Strauss after a missed time drove along with Vaughan, who was caugth and bolwed again of missed timed drive. However Pietersen and Collingwood will look to finsh this game not before too long.

ENGLAND COLLASPE BUT MANAGE TO WIN

finalinnings.jpg

Cricket20052005-12-0121-49-01-55.jpg

England made extremely hard work of the run chase after they won by just 1 wicket. England lost 8 wickets for 29 runs left themselves in an difficult situation with there being no real bastmen looking settled. However a final stand between Giles and Harmison enabled them to get closer to the target. However when giles chopped one on it look as if Pakistan could steal it. Vaughan top scored with his 44 and Harmison finished with 12 notout after finishing the run chase. Unfortunetly for Eangland 4 batsmen in the squad failed to make double figures with Pietersen, Collingwood, Flintoff and Jones all scoring less than 10. For Pakistan, superb bolwing from Razzaq and the two spinners, Afridi and Kaneria enable them to get in such a controlling position.
The collaspe began when Staruss was dismissed for 37 of a mis timed drive, however Vaughan at the toher end looked settled before he to got out to caught and bowled by Razzaq. This was followed by a terrible shot from Flintoff who went to put the ball in the stands but only managed to find Mid wicket. Again Razzaq, ripped throguh the middle order adding pietersen and in the end gough to his list. So despite the win England head to Sydney for a rematch agianst Australia who have yet to win a game in the compettion.

A terrific batting performance by Pakistan has meant that thye win there second match of the series and therefore leaving Australia without a win. Australia rightly so thought they had a good total after scoring 278. Both Ausstralian openers past 50 and this big partnership set the tempo. However another huge innings from Afrid and support by Taufeeq Umar Yousuf Youhana meant thay secured a victory. However it seemed Australia would win after took wickets quickly and had Pakistan 9 wickets down. However superb batting from Akhtar who manage to hit a remarkable 16 from 5 balls which is amazing considering the circumstances ensure them the victory with 7 balls to spare.

SUMMARY:
AUSTRALIA 278 (50 overs)

M.Hayden 69

PAKISTAN 282-9 (48.5 overs)
S.Afridi 81

PAKISTAN WIN BY 1 WICKET

SUPRISE SELECTION MADE BY AUSTRALIA

Cricket20052005-12-0314-21-45-84.jpg

SQUADS:
England:

M.Trescothick
A.Strauss
M.Vaughan
K.Pietersen
A.Flintoff
P.Collingwood
G.Jones
A.Giles
D.Gough
S.Jones
S.Harmison

Australia:
A.Gilchrist
M.Hayden
R.Ponting
D.Martyn
S.Katich
M.Clarke
B.Hodge
A.Symonds
B.Hogg
J.Gillespie
G.Mcgrath

Australia have suprised us all by selecting Jason Gillespie over Bracken. This comes after B.Lee was injured during nets practice and therefore there was a need for replacement. S.Tait is still out with injury but Australia stil had many options with Staurt Clarke and possibly Kasprowicz. There more suprises with Hodge replacing Hussey and Katich returnign to the squad. As a result the Australians have produce an extremelt strong batting lineup with Batsmen all the way down to number 8. Despite this they still have a strong bowling department with the two pacemen, the specilist spinner and part timers, Symonds, Clarke and Katich if needed. Therefore they have produced a good alround squad despite the injuries. England on the other hand have put out the same squad which defeated Australia and Pakistan.

GILLESPIE GETS DEMOLISHED ON RETURN

5INNG.jpg

Gillespie dream return is only a dream after he was completely destoryed by Vaughan and Trescothick. Trescothick went on to get 39 balsted the ball all over the wicket but eventually fell to Hogg whoas spun the ball a great distance. Meanwhile it seemed a different game when McGrath removed strauss for just 3 but Vaughan Trescothick manage to build a 50 partnerhsip leaving England going at just below 6 an over.

Update after 15 overs
VAUGHAN AND PIETERSEN ADD 50 TOGETHER

25ovinng.jpg

England M.Vaughan and Pietersen have added another partnership of 50. However it was soon ended by a brilliant catch of the bowling of A.Symonds by Katich. The catc, taken above the head was right on the boundary and was going for 6 before Kaicth graps the ball. Pietersen departed for a well made 31 leaving Vaughan and Flintoff at the crease. Vaughan who is 40 notout has looked solid and it will be viatl that he stays around. For Australia Hogg has been the pick of the bowlers thus far bowling 9 overs for just 28 runs whilst taking a wicket. This has been supported by efforts from McGrath, Symonds and Clarke.

Update after End of Innings
SYMONDS TAKES 5 IN AUSSIE FIGHT BACK

eofins.jpg

Andrew symonds led a come back as England were bowled out for just 224. At one staged it seemed England would be up near the 300 mark but 5 wickets from Symonds made this impossible. M.Vaughan top scored with 67 before he was bolwed after smahsing two forus the balls before. Thsi marked the beginning of the end with only one other batsmen making any conciderable contribution, this being Jones who finished 18 notout. Its seems that spins is going to be the key factor in this match with 8 wickets falling to it in the match. However with England only playing one spinner it would seem obviosu that they are going to struggle. However we will find out soon.
