India:DTH Service

What? I seriously didn't know this.

Haha, that is indeed true. They only provide two HD channels namely - National Geographic Channel HD and StarCricket HD. What is even more funnier is that they flip between StarCricket HD and ESPN HD when two matches are being played simultaneously!

Wow, that is the height. Friend, does that shifting mean they will add all HD channels?

Man, you guys just need to wait few days more. They are currently testing it. Discovery HD, Movies Now HD, Star Plus HD are confirmed. More HD channels are also coming. They had less HD channels because of the less space but you don't need to worry after they shift the satellite. If you want to buy ADTV then wait for this month, if no news came then you can happily for other DTH services.

Yes, since they will have more space, more HD channels will be available with 30+ more SD channels.

I don't really need it before a month anyways. I'll wait for what they come up with.

Wow, then I doubt such posts add anything to the discussion. It was just a light comment. Seriously, there wasn't a need to go that far telling me to stay away from the thread as I pointed out your way of posting.

this is known as moderation ka "chaska" ! ;)

Currently we Airtel customers get just two HD channels, NGC HD and Star Cricket HD/ESPN HD. Out of the two, NGC HD is on for 24x7 whereas the sporting HD channels are activated only when a grand sporting event such as the CWC, a tennis grand slam open, Fifa WC, IPL etc. are on.

With the shift to SES7, the already superb quality of the HD channels is going to increase drastically along with the addition of some more HD channels. After a shift to SES7, I won't be shy to accept that I certainly did made the right thing by investing in Airtel.

on a more serious note, if you can afford to shell out a few extra bucks...then TATA SKY+ HD would be the way to go.

have heard good things about Airtel..so thats a good option too.

STAY AWAY FROM DISH TV!! WORST OF THE LOT!

Once a shift to SES7 is done successfully by Airtel, I'm sure that,

Tata Sky+ HD = Airtel Digital TV HD Recorder > All. ;)

I don't think ADTV Recorder is a HD one. It's better to watch HD channels on HD set-box than to watch on Non HD set-box.
Airtel Digital TV Recorder doesn't provide HD officially, but when connected with an HDMI wire, the quality is same as the HD box.

ADTV HD quality is definitely not same as Non-HD Recorder as it doesn't have HD feature (Recorder is HD Ready 576p). I think it's the reason why it's demand is less. Since there are more HD channels coming soon there is no point in buying ADTV Recorder if it's not HD. Hopefully they will soon release ADTV HD Recorder.

HD channels are of the same quality in Recorder as well as the HD box. For SD channels, Recorder's quality is a bit less than the HD Box but considering the fact that Airtel is the best for SD channels, I don't mind the quality I get currently, it's too good.

Plus, the record, rewind, pause and other related features may sound un-interesting and useless, but trust me, I feel the best electronic device I've purchased is the Airtel Digital TV Recorder. I love it!

So we will go for either of the following:
-Airtel Digital TV
-Tata Sky
-Dish TV
We will first look out for their service, as I living in a small city, don't think their service would be too good.Next we will check out for their packs, for the channels we need, and will compare it with other, and will go for the one which is cheap, at the same time we will look out for the quality.
To let you know guys we get all the channels(including all the sports channels-Neo Cricket, Neo Sports, Star Cricket, Star Sports, Ten Cricket and Ten Sports) for just 500 INR for 3 months i.e. 166.67 INR per month(:P), the only problem is the quality, but its the connectivity issue for which we wanna go for DTH service as it is lost anytime.

And thanks for all your suggestions.:)

I have Tata Sky HD. The quality is outstanding every thing works fine but the thing that sucks is it is little bit costly.

So we will go for either of the following:
-Airtel Digital TV
-Tata Sky
-Dish TV

I'd suggest go for Airtel digital TV or Tata Sky (Rs.999 INR) pack the quality is good and they are economical too.
