Is he really unusually talented? Or is he just another bowler who is fooling us with an unique delivery for the time being? Can he become a legend in the future?

Voted "Yes". No doubt, He's very much talented. See, it's not about learning the carrom ball/mystery ball. To master it, which only few do is what that matters and Now, How can anyone fool by bowling that kind of deliveries? How many can do it? Putting the ball in the right line and length also bowling the carrom ball/variations perfectly takes hell of practice and Mendis is talented, and that's why he has been able to do it, and do it perfectly. He's got loads of variations, probably no one has ever seen a person like him in cricket with that unique ability to bowl. How many people can take 6/14 and be more deadly? It's a fact that only a fool will say he's just getting wickets with that variation he bowls. And you know what? Some can't even hold the ball properly when they try to bowl the carrom ball. It's really difficult and hurts a lot!

So my simple point is, he's amazing and one of the most talented cricketers in the current era of the game.

Yup ^^^^Agreew ith you KBC.
He not only has that gifted carrom ball bowling talent, but he is a clever operator of his deliveries too.

The way he is bowling, he is going to be a legend for sure.

Of course he's talented. He bowls all kinda of deliveries. But he's no superstar yet. He got pummeled by Bangladesh today. As time goes on, people will work him out.

He's unusual even if Bangladesh already seem to have worked him out, it's just not easy to bowl the ball like he does and even if good batsmen make him work harder, there will always be batsmen who won't. His story will be worth telling even without 700 wickets.

he hasnt played against RSA or AUS? has he? i will vote after he plays against them

Yeah they are scheduled for a group match, but that will be a very short lived encounter unless they meet again in the finals.

i need a option that goes something like "NOT ANY MORE"

Is his honeymoon period over? Granted I didn't watch the last game against the Lankans, but he went for 47 off 10 overs with no wicket.

Looks like people are beginning to figure him out. Although he may just have had an off day.

Murali also went for 52 in his 10 overs, so I wouldn't be making claims like that after 1 game. It's going to happen though, every time he has a bad game people will be wondering whether people have figured him out. It's the same with Mitchell Johnson, he's had a bad series against South Africa in ODi's, but that doesn't mean that they've figured him out. Mendis' FC record proves that he'll continue to take wickets, he's got a phenomenal record, and will continue to trouble batsmen with his variation.
