is there anyway i can connect my sony handycam HI8 Steady shot digital zoom to my pc and transfer my movies to my pc using microsoft movie maker? on my camera i don't have a port for usb so what kind of cable would i need to do this job?
thanks

First, read the manual and really closely scan for any information about connecting to PC. You've probably already done this, but doesn't hurt to try again.
Now have a look at the camcorder and make a note of all the ports you can see, and what they all do. If you don't know, try finding out using the manual (alternatively try posting a pic here if you can). Then try and post that list here, and we'll see what we can do.

Note: I don't actually own a sony handyman camera. If someone does, please listen to them and not me :p

You will need to get a video capture card with compostite inputs (they are fairly cheap) to get it on the computer, unless you know someone with a digital camcorder (one with a USB connection) which can record from another camera, and then you won't need the card

Btw, his camera is digital. Some cameras use firewire to dv leads (firewire goes in PC end, DV in camera. You might get away with Windows Movie Maker for this approach.

man the manual is lost :(. my cam is 3 years old. Firewire is what i would need just found out from a friend.
thanks for ur help and tips
thanx
