just a quick update - i'm currently redoing many of the animations that were not up to scratch, having just completed rigging of the new models (skinning and boning in prep for animation). Animations are really important, so while im extremely happy with the new models, the old animations need quite a bit of work. I'm going to spend a fair amount of time to improve the animations, so may not be any tangible updates for a while. Once completed though, things will really fly along, as i'll be doing ALL animations in one hit. This means i'll be doing fielder and wicket keeper animations as well as improving batting, bowling and umpire animations. So once all animations are complete i will be able to populate the field with ALL players, meaning it will only be a short time after that we will see the keeper diving around and fielders chasing and catching balls ;) That's when things will really start to get exciting as it will feel like a real game...

cheers,

LM

Wow! Nice to see the animations getting a touch up as some were not perfect whilst others were. Im sure that it is going to be great. From other games, it seems fielders AI is hard to do so best of luck for that.

:)Manee:)

Hi all,

just a quick update

1st of all, happy new year to everyone! Hope you all had a great one :cheers

2ndly, i've been on fire over the last few weeks...

ALL fielder, wicket keeper and bowler animations have been completed and are looking great if i do say so myself, with the exception of some additional fast and spin bowler actions...

I am now working on redoing all crap animations for batsmen. I anticipate the batsmen animations taking until the end of this week, at which time everything will be falling into place. We should see all players and umpires on the field around the start of next week! Another week from then and they'll all be animating and doing stuff!

so really exciting times ahead for the new year.

cheers,

LM

Legend master - you are always on fire m8, the workload you have put in on this is simply stunning - if you can do all this - then you have proven to us how lazy and sub standard the big commercial game companies are when making cricket game.

Also great news on the animations,if youre finalising those and moving on looks like youre ahead of schedule....... is that the case.......?

thanks, mate. But to be fair, i guess i'm a little behind schedule compared to where i wanted to be at this time, but there were many unexpected things that cropped up, some very necessary. This whole redoing of models and animations was definately time consuming but very necessary as it had a large effect on the overall feel of the game. All in all though i am quite happy with where things are right now and the pace with which it is moving seems to be getting faster and faster without loss of quality.

yeah thats great news LM, you know the thought process of us cricket fans anyway m8 and definately taking more time for better results is is what we want, we get the rushed out junk off EA and Codies every year or so.............but never again :hpraise

ye fair point............but it seems as though brief updates occur here and more substantial news is posted less often on the main blog....but hey its all good :cheers

Basically the reason for the blog is so people who don't read the forums can keep up to date, some things posted here aren't always the most important things for people to know, but if there is a more major development something will be posted. The flow works like:

( ^That looked much better in edit mode :) )
In order of news importance.

:happy :happy :happy

Leaps and bounds and all that.

does anyone know how LM is capturing animation? - i would have thought this would be hard (especially bowling) and i have no idea how its done :p - also how can EA get such bad ones with the budget and status they have? the old cricket project animations of the first video are better than any EA animation - EA's are so jerky and bulky and ugly needless to say i havent bothered getting cricket07

:cheers
