Well this will be interesting. More focus will be on the ODI's because of the world cup being in the carribean.

Tests West Indies 1-2 India
ODIS West Indies 1-4 India

India will return all smiles in my opinion
Well you never know with India playing overseas. The last time they actually lost the test series in WI. But I think they should do a lot better this time around.

Predictions: West Indies 1-1 India
ODIs: West Indies 2-3 India

India's record anywhere off the sub continent is abysmal.

Iirc, I read something in TWC saying that the last notable overseas win they had was in 1980s vs England.

If I remember correctly, we drew with the Aussies last time we were there. You can't judge the current team by how Indian teams decades ago played.

Last time around in West Indies, if we had lasted just an hour more, we would have left with a drawn series--it rained non-stop in Jamaica (was it?) for about 5 days after that test-match concluded--washing out 2 ODI matches. That is not bad against a West Indies team that was certainly better than the one that has been playing for the last few months.

India should win the odis... not sure about tests though. I have seen India lose to pathetic teams in tests before so for me "seeing is believing". India shouldn't have any problems in odis as India won the odi series last time Ind toured Windies - and this time India has a better odi team than before!

I back the India team to win the odis 4-1, I think India should win the test series this time around, the team is improving, Kumble should be included in the odi sqaud, he is a expierenced player, and could be vital for India, if he gets a chance to play in the 2007 world cup.

Sadly, it seems unlikely for Kumble to play in odis. Chappel told sportstar a couple of months back that he doesn't really gel with the new concept of "total cricket" ( each player fit for almost any role) that he loves and Dravid also backs.

Too many ifs there my friend. If Warne and McGrath played in that 2003-04 series, India might not have drawn the series.

My take is that

ODI series : 4-1 to India
Test Series : 1-0 to India

I expect Sachin to come back for the tests against West Indies. The pressure will be lot more on him to score in the tests if he decides to come back for the tests. So I think he will score if he comes back to avoid the embarassement of being dropped. And Sehwag should start scoring. I think he would be more responsible from before. So I would remain positive on Indias chances in the tests. In the ODI's, its even more positive. West Indies would do well to keep off a Carribean wash!

With Ramesh Powar doing well both with ball and bat, I dont see any chance for Kumble to break back in to the ODI squad.

Not as abysmal. India's record has improved quite well during the reign of Saurav Ganguly. They are not as poor as they were, before Ganguly was made captain.

Kumble can come back into the team...its not because Powar or Bhajji are doing well, he has age factor against him, and with that fitness.

But if Chappell thinks he wants to preserve Kumble for tests...for few more years, thats not a bad option either. Just like Warne.

Sachin will come back, if he's fit.

so what? Its not that warne has been a great player against India. McGrath certainly would have made a big difference, but i don't get why people cling to the past.

We're talking about 2006 tour of WI.

India are in a better position to improve their past record, and we all can hope for a better display.

I think Dravid opening is a good thing, and sending Sehwag down the order as well. This will give Kaif a much needed break to bat at no.3, followed by Yuvi, Sehwag, Raina, Dhoni etc.

The Indians are gonna win the ODIS hands down,4-1 in my opinion. However,Tests will be close though I still think India will edge out West Indies 2-1.This is a very very important tour for India as they will get the chance to familiarise themselves in the carribeans ahead of the World Cup.

I'm not but this team and players have played abroad.

And their record is abysmal.

I think India will fare better this time round.
My bet ODI's: 4-1 or 5-0 to India.
Tests: 2-1 or 1-1 ( if chappell continues to experiment )

the odi series shiould be easy for india unless lara plays,
tests could turn out to be draws cos both teams have good batsmen but rubbish bowling
