The way England have destroyed NZ, I really do not see India winning or drawing the last Test to clinch the series. It will end up 2-2

Which is sad because we could have totally counted on a 3-1 scoreline had we not been so stubborn about IPL and adjusted the scheduling. We had the momentum going our way big time at that moment

I agree to that fact that Bairstow and England have really turned around things but I think New Zealand are equally poor since their win against India in WTC Final. They had lost that Wankhede game by an enormous margin followed by a loss against Bangladesh at home and that drawn series against South Africa too.

Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell apart, the New Zealand batting was extremely poor!

I think some 14 years ago nobody would've said this but I think India have more of a chance to dismiss England with this batting approach considering our pacers are a touch quicker than the ones Kiwis played in this series. So those shots played with hard hands might result in more number of edges.

India though have their own set of worries:-

  • KL Rahul who scored more runs for India on our last tour is injured.
  • Rohit Sharma who played most deliveries too is tested Covid positive.
  • Kohli is short on some runs big time!
The only thing I am positive about is our pacers. If our lower order puts some runs then I would be pretty hopeful regarding our chances.

Also been a while since India played one-off Test in England. Probably they played one and lost at Lord's back in 2004/05?

This Indian side usually does well when their backs are against the wall. The only factor that is against them now is Edgbaston being England's happy hunting ground (England just loss 1 game here since 2009).

Think the Indian bowlers will have a much better response to aggressive batting approach compared to NZ, but the current Indian batting crop are a hit or miss in England. Too susceptible to batting collapses after good starts evidenced by last years series. Probably need a player or two to bat out of their skins to get that final win.

Don't think we played any test in that tour.

Just three ODIs where Dinesh Karthik made his debut and Laxman opened the innings.

If people considered this series as boring then they really missed something really special today!!

Hooda's innings just makes me feel not going back to Rohit, Kohli & KLR once again. It was just that good!

If this is the approach India are going to bring to the table then they are going to really hammer teams in the long run. I know it's just Ireland but India can just improvise this approach against stronger teams and they are going to be a real threat in T20Is.

Stirling should have played in the IPL eons ago and this game just proves it. Fantastic stuff from the Irish men, they’re definitely on the right track for becoming a good T20I force in the future. If only they can find a decent wrist-spinner and a wicket-keeper who can actually be aggressive…

Samson’s finally come due and it does feel like he’s turned a corner over the last couple of years in terms of consistency and maturity. Has seemed to realise that it is a lot more valuable to make a decent score that has intent and impact over trying to play it safe. Hooda has finally brought in his SMAT performances to the international stage. These two will definitely be asking questions of the team selection moving forward although with Dravid at the helm, I wouldn’t suspect too many radical changes. I do know that the Irish are not top quality opposition, but it is hard to not get excited after years of sterile cricket in the one format India should have thrived.

At the least though, I hope this pushes the likes of Pant to perform better as he did show signs of returning to his old aggressive self in the previous IPL.

Whooss! That was a close one! Well played by Ireland, that was some run chase. They would have easily won had they one player playing today.
Oh did not complete, if KL Rahul was playing today for India, Ireland would have won easily. Captain Fantastic!

I like the look and aggression of this Indian team. Quite happy with the way the 2 matches panned out and would have been happier had they had a 3 match ODI series to follow this one/ a series with Ireland/Scotland.

Part of me believes that Rohit, Rahul and Virat haven't been able to do justice to the T20 format. They tend to take too much time in settling in and this eats into India's run scoring abilities. The team that played Ireland yesterday is what I would like to see at the T20 World Cup later on. The addition of the above 3 players would basically eat away any chance we have at winning the Cup. Hardik's side though is quite fascinating and would look a tad dangerous with Bumrah and Shaw in it. I know this wouldn't happen, but if it were to, it wouldn't be bad at all for the country.

He has failed the yoyo test which was done just before the IPL.

Are we still following the yo-yo? I thought that went away with Ravi-Virat
