16 cute penguins. 11 to choose. Here are my thoughts on them:

Bill Daley
Age: 25
Position: RM Bowler, RH middle order bat.
Review: One of the average batting allrounder that the Penguins have, Daley isn't really great, but he can give his team a short hand when needed.

Courtney Rogan
Age: 24
Position: RFM Bowler, RH lower order bat.
Review: The first penguin I saw bowling. Although his run up doesnt seem to be great, his precision and pace had a good impression on me. He reminded me a bit of Illanganage.

Desmond Pine
Age: 20
Position: Wicket Keeper, LH middle order bat.
Review: The Best man behind the stumps. Has the uncanny ability to catch stray balls. My assisstant was kind enough to tell me that he used to be keeper for the Pingu Hockey League Champions, Desmond Avalanches, and had won several awards for best keeper of the season 3 years running. However, he just couldnt stand the heat.

John Lisbie
Age: 22
Position: LFM Bowler, LH tailender.
Review: A hot guy who likes to hang out on the beach. Not exactly great with the ball, but can bowl those perfect deliveries at times.

Jon Hiller
Age: 23
Position: RF Bowler, RH top order bat.
Review: A similar build to Daley, Hiller hates the heat, and tires out quickly, but just like Daley can bat and ball when required.

Julian Clegg
Age: 20
Position: LH Spin Bowler, LH lower order bat.
Review: Clegg really doesnt ball, but his accuracy at throwing snowballs at old Penguins really makes him worthy of notice. He can aim at those rough cracked patches and spin the ball to trouble the batsman.

Larry Brittain
Age: 20
Position: RM Bowler, RH tailender.
Review: Yet another backup bowler for the Penguins, nothing special in him really, just another street 10 year old.

Mark Hodges
Age: 19
Position: RFM Bowler, RH tailender.
Review: A young bowling penguin who could prove himself on his day. Extremely annoying and tends to get irritated and lose consistency.

Marlon Davison
Age: 23
Position: RF Bowler, RH middle order bat.
Review: He can bat, he can ball, he can field, but cant keep. He has no problem with the heat, and was acording to my assistant coach, a great attacking defender for his hockey team - The Diagonal Hurricanes.

Sam Swift
Age: 23
Position: RFM Bowler, RH middle order bat.
Review: A decent bat. Wouldnt waste time telling about him.

Theodore Cunningham
Age: 22
Position: LM Bowler, LH lower order bat.
Review: One of the great bowlers in the current side, but he lacks heat endurance. Can bat a bit to carry the match a little longer. Excellent player in the slips.

Thom 'pingu' Roe
Age: 25
Position: RH Spin Bowler, RH tailender.
Review: A great bowler [well great for a penguin]. Like Clegg, has the ability to aim those spots well. And unlike Clegg, has the ability to keep hitting them.

Tom Fabian
Age: 20
Position: RF Bowler, RH middle order bat.
Review: Young, talented. If I had known about him before. I would have given him a contract for Sinhala Ranaweera. He reminded me of Fred Murray.

Warren Allott
Age: 27
Position: RF Bowler, RH tailender.
Review: Can bowl, but cant save his life for it, nor can he keep it up. 27 old and always tends to show signs of injury.

Zema Burger
Age: 28
Position: RM Bowler, RH middle order bat.
Review: Sounds tasty. Ex- Captain for the Totters Iceburg. Has been the assistant coach for them since he retired. Always did well in the back. But defending always doesnt help in cricket.

The Best man behind the stumps. Has the uncanny ability to catch stray balls.
He he. I know, I have a dirty mind. :p

Just a question for you both.

Are your groundsmen blind/penguin?

"The Challenge" announces Sponsor!
Online blog to sponsor non-transfer teams.

The Straight Bat -a West Indies based blog- has just signed deals with both The Blind Society and the Sneaky Penguins to be their sponsors for the upcoming season. Apart from funding both the teams, the blog will track their progress with updates from time to time.
"We are very excited with this deal! It is a great blog, which covers news relating to the West Indies with an eye on news for all over the world as well. It is a great read, highly reccomended" commented TBS's star batsman Bernard Stearman.
Sneaky Penguins spinner Thom Roe was lavish in praise for the blog: "Squab squab squabble squeek squee squa squaaaa eeeek squ squee!!!"
The Blog writer, berksowl, was enthusiastic with this deal. "It is a very newsworthy story. Both these managers have taken on a huge risk, it shall be interesting to see how they go about it."

Match Preview!!!!

Play-off match
31/08/2007
Jes Battlers vs. The Blind Society
Jes Battlers CG

Thoughts: Well, our first official match! This isn't exactly a must-win though. Infact, it is quite the opposite. If we win, we promote to Divison 3. But seeing that we are very happy in Division 4 and would like to stay here for atleast another season or so, we won't be trying all that hard. And we won't need to. We have no fear of winning this, as these guys are much, much, MUCH batter than us! With the TT Lions, these guys would have been a walk in the park, but they are head and shoulders above these guys.

The pitch is expected to be green with partially cloudy and windy conditions. We've scouted their team, and their star player is Lee Spector, an excellent left arm seamer. But they are by no means a one man team, filled with quality in both batting and bowling. Also, throwing the game will be quite difficult for them, seeing as they have a squad of 15 really good players!

We will be going in full strength, and looking to put up a good show. A loss is expected, but if we go down, we'll want to go down swinging. The batting lineup gets a bit of an adjustment though, with Stearman dropping down the order and young Frankie Gomez getting a shot at opening.

Look forward to a quick, short match. Hopefully some positives can be gained, and that we can put up some sort of resistance.

Expected lineup: Gomez, Haishen, Holmshaw, Mavuso, Stearman, Bonner, +Brookes, Floors, *Carey, Elvins, Cambridge
