Australia in New Zealand

They flashed the squad up for about 5 seconds. Hussey to captain (Ponting's been told to rest), Haddin in, Voges too, I think I saw. Anyone else catch it?

It was up for a while before. Gilly is obviously resting, no Tait or Clark which is weird. Those people you listed is basically the changes the rest is just our CBS squad.

Finally published. Disappointing there's no Tait, but it seems they're in no mood to experiment with the bowling after last time.

Michael Hussey (capt)
Matthew Hayden
Shane Watson
Michael Clarke (vc)
Brad Hodge
Adam Voges
Brad Haddin (wk)
Cameron White
Brad Hogg
Brett Lee
Mitchell Johnson
Nathan Bracken
Glenn McGrath

That suggest Clark will be picked in the WC squad as they would have seen enough of Clark. If Tait was going he would have been picked for this tour as 2 games isn't enough to see if Tait can bowl at the death or if his 2nd game was a fluke etc.

they should think agian about the squad after what we saw today .

So whose gonna be the wicketkeeper for Australia at the start of the WC if Haddin does really well in the CH trophy and Gilchrist makes 2 single figure scores in the rest of the finals series?
Watson still might have a shout of opening the batting in the WC with Hayden.
Average of 22 just doesn't fill the bill, well atleast it shouldn't anyway.

Our WC squad would be picked before the start of the series so no chances to push for places this would be just giving guys a game.

I don't mind your thinking, but I'd say it's too late to drop Gilly now and Haddin probably won't get a spot in the World Cup 15 - probably at the expense of Symonds, who they will gamble on to be right.

The man who might make the most of the NZ trip is Watson. With Gilchrist and Ponting out, who will open and bat at #3? Maybe Haddin, but he can play well anywhere and would do well at 6 or 7, while Watson should be the favourite to open with Hayden and probably Hodge will move up to 3.

Don't know about moving Hodge up, if we plan on batting him at 5 for the WC then he should get used to that spot. Possibly Clarke in at 3 and Haddin 4, or Haddin opening with Watson at 3.

Tait would've been dynamite in NZ conditions. Also the merry-go-round with Voges continues, he must be one confused dude...being used and abused by Hilditch and his mates.

Wouldnt it have been big news if Ronchi was picked instead of Haddin...oh well.

It seems they may actually pick Haddin for the WC so he would have had to tour NZ, of course could have also picked Ronchi then have Haddin play as a specialist batter.

Haddin can play mutiple rolls as a batsman, he can bat up the order or finish an innings. He can also rescue us. That's what a real finisher is and that is what Cameron White isn't.

And the reason why he should be in our WC squad, add to that he can replace Gilly if he doesn't find form or gets injured a day out from a game. It will be interesting seeing where we put him for this series as he can bat anywhere and still go well.
