At the start of the 3rd innings, it's anyone's game with just 17 runs separating the sides.
Early wickets for England, and maybe the comeback is on... but it's not to be, as Warner and Renshaw get off to a great start.
England pack the off side and attack the left-handers' corridor from around the wicket. It slows the rate down but there's enough punches through the gap to keep the pressure off and take the Aussies to a century opening stand, possibly a series-clinching partnership...
Woakes gives England a glimmer of hope, a quick double strike to remove Renshaw (49) and Kahawja (4). But Warner passes 50, and along with captain Smith takes the lead over 150. Broad gets Smith (15) with a cheap-looking wicket after one bounces more than expected and catches him high on the bat, and Anderson sneaks one past Warner's defence to castle the opener for a fine 77.
Maxwell and Handscomb see it through to close of day 2 with no further loss, and the match is still in the balance but England won't want to chase too many 4th innings.
They push the score along in the morning, but then Handscomb (28) falls pulling Overton to the legside, and shortly after Maxwell (27) edges Woakes to point. At 227/6, a lead under 250, England are still hopeful.
An awkward partnership between Starc and Cummins is a painful one for England, and there's great celebration when Cummins (23) skies one off Ali and is caught brilliantly on the run by Broad. Starc (22) is also taken briiliantly, and Ali helps mop up the tail. Australia all out for 270... England set 288 to save the series.
