Commonwealth Bank Series

I live half an hour from Sydney. Just went out to check if there was any rain which there isn't and a spider jumped on my shoulder! :mad

Yes, Australia. Please play Shaun Tait.
You won't be saying that in a few years, LOL.

Exactly, which is why they stopped it when they used to do it. A possible solution would be to have a new ball after 25 overs which would have the added advantage of tipping the game back towards the bowlers.

Or use orange balls. Yea about the swing, I guess that's a problem. Hmm but so is the often change of the ball nowadays as well.

Raining in Sydney feeling blue? ? I envy you.

Will his back be straight in a few years?
All the more reason to get him in ASAP

One of the things that makes this victory all the more pleasing was that it was against Lee and McGrath not Tait and Clarke.

Shaun Tait is just speed for hire. He has two deliveries and they are both rubbish.
Really

Australia needs Stuart Clark and Shaun Tait back, i dont think that Watson really showed much in the last game, bring back Clark atleast, is a much better bowler, but i think that England will take the trophy, Australia needs Symonds, i hope they dont win, but i believe they will
Watson needs to bat up the order, letting Hayden open while he was injured is horrible for team balance because we can't get him back up now.

Because now his making more runs then everybody else with the exception of Ponting, right? Just bat him where their batting Hodge and problem solved.

As an opening batsman in ODI's if you're not always leading the run totals you're in trouble- I didn't say he's not good enough to play, but there shouldn't be any doubt we're a better team with Watson opening and a hitter at 7 than Hayden at the top and Watson at seven. Of course he's performed well enough that he won't be dropped and we need to find other options to fix the late overs issue

Just bat him where their batting Hodge and problem solved.
Wouldn't be the worst idea, Hodge is more than capable of hitting out and unlike White can build an innings and get us out of trouble if needed.

Why don't you get someone who can bat at 7, is Watson neccesarily guaranteed a place?
On performances he's been one of our best bowlers recently and he's a gun batsman being played out of position, there's no reason he wouldn't be in our best team.

Don't see why we can't drop Gilchrist down to number 7 if he keeps failing.
He's much more value up the top of the order when the field's up, and we need someone who scores quickly to bat with Hayden or we're getting no benefit from the overs where it's easiest to bat.

Watson didn't do very well even when he was pushed up the order though. Averaged 29 and failed in every innings par 3. Before he got shoved up the order he had an average of 32 and now that's dropped down to 30.
Perhaps Watson shouldn't be guareented a spot unless it's as a specialist bowler. In one of the last matches before he was pushed up the order he didn't do to badly finishing off the innings.

He came in with 22 overs to go, that's an example of what happens when he can build an innings more than anything.

Gilchrist is no Hussey. Certainly the aspect of taking advantage of the field placings is what makes him interesting up the top of the order.

The selectors have too much belief in Watson. Hard to see him being replaced anytime soon.

Ummm....sorry to interrupt this conversation but it is starting to rain in sydney....well at my home it is...
