New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori said
''both teams would provide a good measure of where New Zealand was placed in world cricket.

“It will be nice to face the contrasting styles of the West Indies and India this summer,” Vettori said. “They are two teams who are both on the rise, and they will provide a good measure of where we are at in our own development.”

Looking forward to this series and especially the Indian one. This will be good practice i'm sure. I'm glad there's an ODI in Christchurch for both.

I think that West Indian seam bowlers Taylor, Powell and Edwards will revel in the seaming and swinging New Zealand conditions and that this will be a tight Test and ODI series.

We've seen in the past few years though that the pitches aren't seaming and swinging so much as they used to. They'll get some degree of assistance on some of the pitches for sure. Dunedin has the potential to be a high seaming wicket though since it's a pretty new venue. Napier is usually pretty flat. All 5 ODI pitches are pretty flat.

In comparison to the dead pitches of West Indies, it will be a welcome change for the young quicks.

Should be a great test series, on paper NZ should take the ODI's easy but after what has just happened in England my money is staying in my pocket.

Also surprised Hamilton is getting a T20 I will be attending that for sure.

Hope that Bravo can be fully fit for this series. Fidel should give NZ some trouble as in the past they have struggled against fast bowlers. Taylor on these wickets should be a handful.

Both teams are having a bit tough time winning matches in Test cricket. It will be an interesting series. I am glad to see there are 2 T20s in this series.

I am anxious about this series but I think that the West Indies will be the ones to win this encounter. The first test will be a cracker and I can't wait. I look forward to seeing Chris Gayle belting the New Zealand bowling attack over the fence for six in the Twenty20's. It will be soooooooo exciting. :D Is anyone else looking forward to watching the series?

Well, that's being awefully confident. Our bowling is our strong suit, so Gayle will have to really be on his game. If we lose games I expect it to be with the bat as usual.

Test-wise, it should be close. The teams seem to be similarly ranked and skilled. ODI wise, I think NZ are favorites but i'm not going to make predictions. West Indies aren't totally hopeless. If we arn't on our game, the same thing which England is doing to SA could happen to us.

I don't know if our bowling is that strong, well it isn't in test matches. In ODI's its fine as a team doesn't need a wicket taker. But who do we have in NZ that can take 5 wicket hauls?

I hope Southee has gotten stronger and fitter over the last few months. It's a long way out but this is the test team I would like to see.

1.Jamie How
2.Martin Guptill
3.Ross Taylor
4.Jesse Ryder
5.Brendon McCullum
6.Daniel Flynn
7.Jacob Oram
8.Daniel Vettori
9.Kyle Mills
10.Tim Southee
11.Mark Gillispie

We play Aus in November and I would rather see Redmond and Fulton play over Ryder and Guptill just so they don't get "worked over" by the Aussie attack. I don't see Redmond lasting to long as opener for NZ.

In my opinion WI have better batsman than New Zealand. Chanderpaul, Gayle and Sarwan are going to be the key if WI want to win this.

My WI Test XI would be something like this.

1. Gayle*
2. Marshall
3. Chanderpaul
4. Sarwan
5. Brendan Nash
6. Bravo
7. Ramdin/Baugh+
8. Sammy/Roach/Powell
9. Taylor
10. Jaggernauth
11. Edwards

That looks like a good team, playing Edwards, Taylor, and Roach would be a good idea as NZ aren't very good against quick bowling.

Test-wise, our batting is what has let us down in the past. I agree, West Indies have a big names. With us being at home, it should be a close series.

I'd like to see the same squad as in England because they deserve another chance,. They weren't terrible either. I'd add Franklin and Ryder of course since they're both back from injury.

Replace Gillespie with Franklin. Not sure about Guptill. Sinclair should be on there. does he open?
