ECW Preview - Tuesday 7th August

ECW's changing!

The ECW Heavyweight title has been vacated and two more titles are up for grabs! With Shane McMahon as new GM, fans of ECW can expect to see some great action from the new roster, now including Randy Orton, Mr Kennedy and Bobby Lashley from Raw, Rey Mysterio from Smackdown!, and old ECW favourites like CM Punk and Rob Van Dam.

It has been announced that there will be a tournament to decide who will be the first holder of the newly brought back Television Title. This tournament includes: Chavo Guerrero, Nick Dinsmore, Funaki, CM Punk, Little Guido Maritato, Dave Taylor, Elijah Burke, Carlito, and two surprise superstars! Tune in to catch the first matches of the title unfold and the title will be on the line in a Triple Threat at SummerSlam.

The Tag Team titles will be on the line this show as new GM, Shane McMahon will be deciding which two teams he thinks are worthy enough of being the first ECW Tag Team champions. ECW's resident highflying tag team, London and Kendrick will certainly be looking to get their hands on the gold, but will they get a chance? Tune in to find out!

And finally, the ECW Heavyweight title needs a home. There are plenty of superstars in the ECW locker room desperate for a chance to have that belt around their waist. However, nothing further has been released as to who will be fighting for it!

I hope you guys play on the rivalry between the brands and have a battle of the champions or something to that effect. Good job GN you had to bring back the titles to keep pace with the bigger brands

My Picks

I'm making it more of a change without any explanation :p. Surely people can work out that his stupid gimmick wouldn't work.

ECW- Tuesday 7th August

Everyone was excited for the start of a new era for the Extreme Brand, and it didn't let down!

New General Manager, Shane McMahon came out at the start of the show and announced a tag team main event involving Randy Orton and Mr Kennedy vs Rob Van Dam and the newest addition to the roster, The Instant Classic, Christian Cage.

The start of the Television Title tournament saw Carlito take on old veteran, Dave Taylor. But, it wasn't to be for Taylor as young blood proved victorious as Carlito found himself through to the next round. Also, Chavo Guerrero fought the fiery Italian, Little Guido Maritato and came out on top, albeit after cheating and giving Maritato a low blow when the referee wasn't looking, then rolling him up for the 3 count. The crowd was very excited for the third of the Television title matches which saw CM Punk come up against a newly changed genius, Nick Dinsmore. Earlier in the show, Dinsmore savagely attacked Punk, and it was doubtful that Punk could wrestle later that evening. However, he wrestled Dinsmore and beat him to also find himself in the next round. This only fuelled Dinsmore's rage and Punk found himself on the end of another beating after the match.

The first titles to find themselves with owners were the tag belts. Shane McMahon let London and Kendrick compete for the belts against mystery opponents which turned out to be none other than The Paparazzi II (Austin Aries and Alex Shelley). The two sets of talented superstars battled it out, and eventually Aries pinned Kendrick and The Paparazzi II were able to hold the tag belts aloft. Will this be the start of a long reign for the champs?

Rhino debuted in a match put in place by the new GM, seeing Rhino against talented highflyer Mysterio and ex-champion Bobby Lashley. Rhino proved himself as he Gored Bobby Lashley to pick up the win.

There was much tension in the Main Event, what with both Christian Cage and Mr Kennedy airing their views on what they hoped would happen. It turned out to be a great debut for Christian Cage, coming back to the WWE and pinning the favourite to become the champ, Randy Orton. However, this doesn't look over between Randy Orton and Christian Cage who continued to brawl after the match.

Next week on ECW promises some brilliant matches with more matches from the Television Title tournament, news on what will happen with the ECW Heavyweight title, and much more. Don't forget to tune in to Sci-Fi to check it out.

Match Results:

Carlito beat Dave Taylor- ECW Television Title Tournament

Chavo Guerrero beat Little Guido Maritato- ECW Television Title Tournament

CM Punk beat Nick Dinsmore- ECW Television Title Tournament
